Most of your RBOCs (slang: telcos) have greater uploads than cable (384kbps+) and Qwest has pulled a superbowl-style comeback at 892kbps up with their standard package plus the first ever POTS-free DSL.
But upload isn't really an issue to John Q. Broadband, and POTS-free DSL will be the key to defeating the cable monster.
Only three months until I can switch to Qwest DSL and dump my phone line.:) |

| qwest will be gone in a few years, they already have a few major fcc investigations dealing with illegal business operations going on right now. |
