Why the disclaimer? If it's a legitimate VoIP app, they put it there to tell you people can call you and you can call them. Kinda like the phone company disclaiming "you may hear strange voices in your head when you use this product"
If it's spyware, They're trying to stay legal by telling you so.
This brings to mind the concept of trusted party verification. We have lots of tools, protocols etc to verify communications technically, but few tools to verify the trustworthiness of the product or business selling it. That's where we presently rely on industry certification, word of mouth, forums, reviews etc. {speculation} Maybe someday there will be a standardized business trustworthiness cert that will piggyback x.509 ? {/speculation}
In the meantime, a few other disclaimers for your edification; »www.rinkworks.com/said/warnings.shtml -- Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea. Robert A. Heinlein |
