You want to use a car you start learning how to drive, no?(Although what I see every day on the highway tells me that there are a lot of AOL subscribers driving:) )
You want to use a computer, learn the basics of it's functionality.
Computers are not kitchen appliances.Yet!!!!

I miss the civilized and educated society.

A ridiculous argument, as the site nearly SHOUTED the fact that it was a joke. Computer literacy has nothing to do with it.

It has nothing to do with computer literacy. Common Sense. Can't common sense tell you that immediately deleting AOL.exe will not improve your spelling and english skills or improve your IQ or make youy $2.90 richer every month.

I can barely use this computer but I can still read and have common sense.

While I do agree with you that people need to give the less knowledgable a break, this particular problem really isn't an issue of computer literacy.

People panic and don't take the time to read what's infront of them. It's not a matter of being computer illiterate, it's a lack of patience, a lack of effort to take the time to really try and understand the information that's presented to them.

If these "duped" people took 5 minutes to really read the email, they'd know it was a joke. Hats off to whoever started it, aside from being funny, I think it's really a good exercise to keep people on their toes. Maybe they'll read their next e-mails a little more carefully.

I agree.

i have nothing against anyone who comes to me and wishes for me to help them learn about computers, but for someone who comes to me and says "make it work" i have no patience for. if you're willing to learn, i'll help. if you just want your warez n porn, then you have no business being on the internet.

oh, and emphasis on the *JUST* to keep all you h4x0rz happy

@kscable.com

You can always make money off computer illiterate people...open up a business for people who just want for you to make "it" work (and don't want to learn and grow). Make some money!!!! $$$$$
