[OT] General election

Looks like the parliament is getting dissolved today. How many days does it usually take for the Election commissioner to set the election date?

Oh well i just found out that even if i manage to register today, i wouldn't be able to cast my vote because apparently the SPR takes 3 months to process an application? geez.

What's the point of having Smart Indentity card? MAybe we should get a better Body to handle the election.

I hope B.N will not win the majority of the vote. I want to see a more diversified Malaysian goverment.

How many of you guys are voting?

Problem is I see PAS as a major threat, I seriously think they might get Kedah this time. Dr. M's slacking in past years would probably hurt BN.

Its a process of democracy, if PAS is to be elected into office by the kedahan there's nothing wrong that. After all majority rules.

Me on the other hand is more of a DAP guy. UMNO is too conservative for me, PAS is too Islamic and Keadilan is without a cause.

So if i was to vote it'll go to DAP.

Make me a cool avatar!

I'm not going to vote neither.

But my fren always say our government needs some DAP or PAS or Keadilan members to be there so tat those BN members wont dominate the goverment woh.

Wat do u all think?

If i'm going to vote, mayb i'll go for DAP oso cozZz i think the BN guy at my place did lots of useless things for the past 5 years.

In the constitution, the election must held within 60 days if I am not mistaken but rumour says that the election will held on 21st March since it is school holidays.

Yup...elections definitely would b held during coming school holidays!:)
Like earlier mentioned, schools are used as polling centres.
Re idea of more diversified /mixed representation in govt, it's ideal but difficult to make a reality here.
The norm has been 2vote BN into Parliamentary areas and opposition into state seats.....but agin, it's difficult to realise...rite?

But for PG, the norm previously was to vote BN into State seats and Opposition into the Parliament seats...wonder if Penangites will swing their votes again this time around?

Fone Bone you seen how weak DAP is during last election in Penang. They lost Jelutong area their stronghold most probably because all that time they hold it, they did nothing.

Yup, exactly my thoughts.....basically last round DAP got spanked all the way out. That's why i'm wondering whether this round, they'll get more sympathy votes or not, especially for Parliament seats. Last time always got scenario like that, cos we like to put Opposition there to nag nag a bit )

And some of the old-timers (cough, Kit Siang, cough) won't be running in Penang any more if what the advance news says is true. People might give the new faces a chance....

the problem is, DAP can't do anything in jelutong simply because BN. BN lead goverment do not grant money that they are suppose to the jelutong Area.. this is as a "teaching" the residents to vote for BN.

The school holiday is TOO soon for the election to be held. During the last election, it was held during school holidays, but during SPM/STPM exams, causing exams falling on polling day to be postponed.

And in 1995, the election was held during school days.

However, for both occassions, the govt declared a public holiday.

I expect nomination on 13 Mar (Saturday) & polling on 22 Mar (Monday), which is a day after the F1 race!!

My fren told me it will be on 28th March. I believe Badawi deserve a chance to correct the past, therefore my vote will be BN.
