Re: [Modem] Pacbell/SBC static IP and Zoom X5 Modem Thank you. One additional question: should I enable/disable the "Bridge" setting? I will try this as soon as I have a chance to rewire the connection. Thanks again...keith |

keithsgPremium join:2004-03-07 San Francisco, CA | Update: I tried the following settings on the X5:
VPI 8 VCI 35 Encapsulation 1483 bridged LLC Bridge Enabled (I also tried "disabled")
I connected the modem via line 1--actually I used a "phone" port on my DSL line
That done, I am still unable to get the modem to connect. I will keep trying...keith

Your older modem, the Alcatel 1000, was wired on Line 2. You need to take some action at the jack to get your new modem to synch. You might be able to re-wire the jack off of the Yellow Black pair and onto the Red Green pair, you can get a line 1 line 2 "T" adaptor and plug your current modem into line 2, or you can also get a "line swapper" that will swap line one and line 2. -- It truly is the lowest level where we ALL make the difference. |
