Re: Vonage and Tivo - still incompatible

I agree, it is pointless to dial-in when a high-speed Internet connection exists. However, Directv-integrated Tivos do not have networking capability. I have looked long and far for a "hack" to fix this, and I am not convinced one exists. If someone has a Series 2 Directv-Tivo unit and has personally set it up to use the Internet for its dial-in call, please let me know. I actually like pay per view movies and such, which do need to be able to dial in.

None of this "my friend's brother did it..." crap. That's what scattered all over the web and I'm not interested in opening up my Tivo without someone's first hand documented experience.

There is no way you can send the PPV information to DirecTV over the internet. If you want to get around that, you'll have to order PPV movies online.

To get around the Tivo messages (your recorder hasnt called in...) you can do the hack which adds networking to your tivo and also disables the daily calls, which arent needed anyways since the tivo gets the guide data from the satellite (and if you are paranoid -- it cant send viewing stats back to tivo because of this)

This is what you need: »www.dealdatabase.com/forum/showt···?t=28921

Get a second harddrive, the same size (or bigger) as your tivo's and use that, if anything goes wrong you can go back to using the original drive.
