Only thing yanked is the publics chain. They can't be taken seriously as coders so I'm guessing they are attention deprived at home. |

The site has been deleted. Thank you for the information.

 | reply to MxxCon Depending on if these fools go to university (Guessing from the comments on the site, and quotes about 'research') then they could be in big trouble for human rights abuses - »www.ncsu.edu/sparcs/irb/pol_proc.pdf I am sure there is one for whatever university they go to.
quote:
All research procedures minimize the risks to the subjects. Any risk must be reasonable in relation to the potential benefits from the study. Informed consent must be obtained from the subject before participation. This consent must be in writing unless exempted by the committee. Subject must be provided with adequate detail regarding the study to make an informed decision regarding their participation. This information should be included on the consent form and should be written in lay language, so that the subjects can make an informed decision regarding participation. Subjects privacy must be maintained. Subjects need to be made aware that they participate of their own choice and are free to withdraw from the study at any time.

| reply to MxxCon I'd have to read the policy in detail, but I think 'human subject' only applies when you're doing research on the human, and I don't think sampling their IP address nor noticing whether they take things which they suspect to be stolen can possibly come under that heading. You're not doing anything 'to' the human. |

| Mental Abuse comes to mind. Making someone paranoid and freak out if they are downloading a legitimate file for legitimate use and get their malware/virus/trojan.
I hope their project gets them at least a letter of reprimand at the school they are attending. If not, their IT/computer staff/teachers have failed us all in letting them even attempt this in public. I could see a private test (controlled environment in school lab) but not out in the public where this could do damage.
I know we always have "If's" Out there - but what if some real hard core hacker, re-coded this with a very destructive worm. Stupid kids like this need to learn how the real world works and be taught a lesson!
Thanks to anyone out there that helped curb this before it got real bad!!!! |
