The Paris Hilton sex video is a copyrighted work and is not a legitimate free file just because it's widely available. And if you're stupid enough to download a 470KB video with an .exe file extension you deserve what you get.
I stand corrected. I was guessing this wasn't copyrighted, sounded like a joke/prank file from ebaumsworld.com or something (I don't keep up with a lot of politics, sorry).

You got it from ID 2. ID 2 was two of the root branches for distribution. You had to have download some file believing it was an illegal file to get it.

We aren't saying anyone has pirated anything. We've said that people have downloaded these programs, believing they were illegal versions or cracks of software.
Also it's not malware and you're being too obvious when you try to fake entries. What's next, proxying?

It's possible you downloaded after Clif posted the results on Neowin. Judging from your attitude and blatant lying on Neowin, I doubt it. Judging from the EFF footer on Neowin, I'd highly doubt it.

If for some reason this "tactic" does result in legal action taken upon those who are logged.... What's to stop people from getting the file, renaming it...say.... Linux_redhat_9_iso_1 and spreading to hundreds of thousands of innocent people downloading innocent files????? then there is a flood of bogus user info being logged which makes the list of "guilty" useless. Perhaps everyone needs to do this to dilute any possible future strength this "tactic" may have the potential for..... just a suggestion
Also, what legal team/gov agency/judge is going to allow the use of a list of crap from some dumb 14yr old script kiddie as evidence in a criminal case, if it did indeed even get to that point in some backwards alter-universe??

AHah. Im laughing now. Cause im sure these boys days are number. When ever someone gains this much notoriety. In i feel a negative context, it only seems right that a file trading hacker takes it upon themselves to shut these Vigilantes down.They can only pray their firewalls hold up.

Or are we just assuming this is legiimate because the original poster happened by their website. What I'm getting at is this: I could build this same website and then pick random IPs out of thin air, then claim that I'm doing what they say they're doing, then sit back and hope it makes it into the BBR forums so that I can pretend to be cool.
Just a thought, maybe I have no clue.........or do I? |
