I was one of the people involved with ICH5 (chipset) design at Intel, and I will vouch u can secure a linux box air tight until there is nothing u can do with it, even run simple vim, well the good thing about windows is it is user friendly, but not as secure as linux can be. Linux is for people who know unix, if u dont stick with windows and retail firewalls.
