Or it could be that such companies are worried about being implicated for things that have nothing to do with spyware by a law that does not clearly identify it's purpose. Ie WinXP's product activation, or auto updater.
But then again we all like laws that make us feel better no matter what the actual impact; hence CAN-SPAM. -- Japan-- Now with 30% more climbable telephone poles!!
