I'm waiting for a phone call back to see if I can upgrade. There are a few things I'm not happy about though:

1) "$49 one-time setup fee" Seems bogus, someone from COFS want to enlighten us as to just what this is paying for?

2) PPPoE (albeit static) seems pointless for customers who currently have bridged connections. This is what made me leave BellSouth in the first place... them telling me I had to give up my bridged connection in lieu of PPPoE. It's not needed, so why *FORCE* customers to switch? If netrox or someone else starts offering 3M x 384K with a standard bridged connection I'd switch yet again in a heartbeat. Someone at COFS care to explain this point as well? (A technical explanation of just *WHY* you need us to switch, not some dumb PR explanation)

Anyhow, looking forward to the phone call as well as a response to these questions before I do anything.

Disregard everything I said in my last post. It's all been answered in the other post regarding this issue and by visiting BellSouth Residential Class NSP Pricing.

Sorry, Faisal.

Bellsouth will offer the same speed at $54.95 with Static IP

I'd like to stay with Snappy but it's $15 cheaper with BS.

Don't forget the "Regulatory Recovery Fee" and the Communication Taxes....

BTW, We never claimed to be "Cheaper" than BellSouth.NET.... only Better -:)

Hey Faisal, also noticed this little tidbit on the BS ad

Static IP is included at no extra charge, and get HomeNetworking Plus, allowing you to connect your FastAccess DSL service on up to four computers, for half price ($5 per month).

That's another 5 bucks to add to the total price from BS. We will still be able to keep our routers for extra computers wont we?;)

i can tell you that the service is GREAT!!! i am not getting paid by snappy to say this that said snappy is great i've had bellsouth and directtv dsl and let me tell you there is no comparision !!! to get the cheap price with bell south you are all forgeting that you have to have the complete choice package from bellsouth a bunch of stuff you'll never use with snappy you can keep your own modem and router and just pay the extra couple bucks and get the most RELIABLE service there is!!! i've been with snappy for under a year now and i was down 1 time only and that was bellsouths fault not snappys when i was with bellsouth i was down at least once a month for a year so for GREAT SERVICE stick with snappy and not with a company that don't care about you

I'll second that Timezone. I've only talked to the service department once since I got set up and that was only because I had called in to talk to the billing dept. for some form I needed. One of the Techs noticed I had called and called me back to make sure I did not have a problem.

I will be calling Monday or Tuesday for the upgrade.:D

PS: If I have figured right, the cost of the upgrade should work out to what I am paying now for 1.5/256 with the static IP. I,too am wondering about the one time $49. setup charge though. Is that something being passed through from BellSouth?

Yes, BS charges $40 for the switch. I used to be $90 but they lowered it for the new tier.
