Actually SBC's speeds are dropping with the prices ... not increasing. For the past two years, SBC has been substantially faster than Roadrunner with DSL data rates on the SBC Expert Plus account at 6 MB / 608K.
A couple of days ago, they changed that to 3 Mbps / 384 K to go along with the new lower prices. Looks like they are doing away with the 6 Mbps speed.
Those who ordered their Expert Plus DSL prior to March 25th have 6 Mbps download and 608K upload speed. Those who ordered after March 25th are getting 3 Mbps and 384K.
Those who moved fast to get the $44.95 price tag the past couple of months all got the 6 Mbps. Those now getting the $36 to $39 price tag are only getting 3 Mbps.
While a lot of people are only upgrading now due to the recent price drop, I myself have been enjoying a full 6 Mbps on SBC for over a year now. I just wish they wouldn't do away with that speed. It basically means that if I ever move to another house, I'm screwed! |

They are not doing away with the 6Mbps pkg we are just splitting it up now..
instead of 1536-6016/384-608 (broad sync range with limited DSLAM options) We split it to two newer pkgs
1536-3000/384-416 and 4000-6000/416-608 are the new speeds I believe. -- Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day. Teach him how to fish and you feed him for a lifetime - Lao Tzu |

Well that's good news if they are planning on bringing 6 Mbps back again. Right now, both Expert Plus packages are 3 Mbps / 384 K unless you ordered before the last week of March. |
