Re: WRT54G and WAP11

I have the same trouble downloading the MustDie_2.06_r1.zip. I have tried with IE too or Firefox but had the same results, the zip is corrupted.

For the record.

I have a WAP54G-EU (that is written on the unit) bought in Greece (maybe is version 1.0). The original firmware installed was 1.08. Following the guidelines from linksys site i have upgraded first to 1.09.1 and the to 2.07.01-eu and 2.08-eu all from the linksys web site.
I have also tried to downgrade to Freya-2.06-1sv but i came across the ethernet problem. Simply the ethernet port doesn't work. I have tried hard resets and pressing reset button for long period, but nothing worked so I've upgraded it again over wireless to liksys 2.08-eu that works fine but without power control.

Re: [wireless] WAP54G Firmware with Power Hack (1.08-based) HERE

WRT the factory default power output on the WAP54G. Communications Research Centre Canada released a report (November 2003) in which they used a spectrum analyser to determine the power output of several different model WAP's.

According to the report, the measured power output at the antenna was 7dBm (5mW) vs the published specification of 15 dBm (31.6mW).

Does anyone have a comment on this?

Ladies and gentlemen,
I've found out that the Linksys posted the GPL source for Linksys 2.07 on their site. I'll start working on it tonight.
On a sad note: I won't be able to post the firmware as an attachment to the forums, so if anybody has any idea where to post it, feel free to share it here in this thread.

@73.xx.128.ip.tele2ad

I have some problem with WAP54G. I have Mustdie v1.08. All the net works fine, but my Wap11, that I use as clien, can´t connect. I use MAC-filter, and the MAC is right. The wap11 connect first time ok, but when I disconnect I cant connect again, before i have reset my Wap54g. I have tried without MAC-filter, and then there are no problems...

I hope that someone are able to help..
Thx

Wap54G being a pain.

Hi!

I have an Wap54g that I have upgraded I think to 2.06 a while back now, it seemed to work perfectly for weeks. I could access it, change settings, etc.

Last night it would not let me access it by webpage, so I put the original cd back in and it showed the IP address as being 0.192.168.1 I tried to access it with my password and the software, just says incorrect password.

I resetted it a few times and the IP address changed to 1.192.168.0 which I still cannot access by software.

I must say the device is still working, I just do not have any control over it anymore .. cannot access it via webpage.

I would be delighted if anyone has any idea's to get it working again?

Alex

@dsl1.elk.ca.frontier

Loaded up the 2.06 must die. Looks good - thanks for the work mustdie. Just wondering if anyone else has a diag light stuck/always on. Also, I noticed the full/col light is off.

I'm using the WAP54G v1. I followed the upgrade path, etc.

Also - just wondering what everyone is setting their antenna's to. Diversity, left or right...and what would happen if you put it to any one of them.

This site has been incredibly helpful to me - my thanks to all - I loaded fw v2.07 on my WAP54G v1.0 and my unit with unresponsive via the browser (192.168.1.245).

Even though Linksys' site directed me to that version (thru its link from v1.0) I later found out I should have first gone to 1.09.1 before going to 2.07.

I may have found yet another way around the unresponsive browser problem. I found that if I attempted the connection during the power-on diagnostics (pull out the plug, put in back in, hit 192.168.1.245 on my browser) I was able to somewhat reliably get into the unit over the LAN. When this didn't work I did the 90 second reset schtick that somehere suggested and that seemed to help (hold button down for 90 seconds, with power on during 30, power off during 30, power on during 30).

My observation: I noticed my connections via the LAN browser could only be made when the ACT led flickered(don't ask me why, this looks like a WLAN indicator, but...whatever). Power-on diags apparently tickle something that enables the browswer connection. When I saw that light flicker, I pinged via the browser.

From there I was able to downgrade the firmware to 1.09.1 via Frosty's advice(»192.168.1.245/fw-conf.asp, disable downgrade header) & then re-upgrade to 2.07. Seems to be working fine now. This was just my experience and it may be all voodoo, ymmv, but if this saves someone the 6 hours of aggravation I just went thru, I will be happy. Thanks again all.

Please start a new thread rather than drudge up old threads.
