Re: [Modem] Pacbell/SBC static IP and Zoom X5 Modem Yep, you can't just use the phone port since the DSL signal already splitted RIGHT at the phone box outside, and none of your phone ports carry DSL signal any more.
You will need something picture above and plug in to the DSL jack and play around with the "holes" on that "2-line adaptor" (available from Radio Shack) connect to your modem a bit to get "dsl light=on",etc... --

Well, the Zoom modem is now working. The settings are as above: VPI-8, VCI-35, Encapsulation-1483 Bridged LLC
The final trick was using the adaptor allowing me to bring the line 2 signal to line 1.
