The third rule of fightclub is
FOR THE FUCKING LOVE OF GOD, DO NOT FUCKING TALK ABOUT FIGHTCLUB!
If you're too dense to get the picture I'll spell it out for you, stop talking about where people should go for file sharing (in this case, IRC) you'll only end up shitting on your own seat.

If you honestly think the RIAA and everyone else does not know about IRC filesharing, you are the one who needs to stop being so dense. They have already been working on the IRC thing. If you use IRC for file sharing you will notice that when you join a file sharing channel, there are always warning to the RIAA and other groups that it is illegal to monitor traffic in those channels/servers. They put those warnings there because they know the RIAA and other groups are watching IRC. They know about it they just are going after the easy targets first.

| Re: To Karl Bode. If you honestly think I was speaking strictly about IRC and not the tendency for idiots that post on this site to advertise alternatives for file sharing (thus filling those alternatives that were once rather lean and mean and lacking in idiot n00b users with just that, n00b users that end up screwing up the whole thing) then you're the dense one.
Point is, don't tip off the newbs, even if most of the newbs already know about it.

| | | Re: Mentiroso To Karl Bode. ahem. often irc chats are not on legitamate servers. ie. hackers compromise a server and host their chat sessions there. i really dont see riaa being able to post a message on these irs servers. with this method of anonymously distributing information. | |

2 edits | No one talked about the numbers, they just circulated somehow.
They also had those nifty warnings and disclaimers, "Enter YES, If you are associated with a law enforcement agency". In this case "Click YES is associated with the RIAA or MPAA".

| Thank you for pointing out my potential "denseness".
I was not aware the FBI and the leaders of several multi-billion dollar industries and the vast intelligence apparatus they employ did not know piracy runs rampant on IRC.
I will, of course, try to guard such industry trade-secrets more carefully in the future.
