"OFFICIAL" WORD ON 3MBIT PACKAGE FROM DSLi!

ok i just got off the phone with DSLi's sales dept...

i told them i was an existing customer and i was inquireing if they were going to offer a 3mbit package... and this is what he said...

he said that they are going to roll it out soon, within the month... best part was what he said after i asked him the price, this is word for word "we are either going to be the exact same price as bell, or less, we are really trying to undercut bell on this one"

glee!!

and i got put on a notification list so i can know when i can get it... im so excited...

Nice, I may look into it. I'll let you beta test it first.

Hehehe.... Yeah... I am going to wait a little also. Will be interesting as to how speeds turn out. I have lurked in the Bellsouth forums a little and it seems to be hit or miss as to 1.5 speeds there when using PPPoE.

Good deal......is it going to require equipment change?

I've used PPPoE w/static IP in the past, on a Bellsouth business account and didn't have a problem with it, so I don't have this fear of PPPoE that others have.

Static IP is a necessity though, for me at least.

Static ip is for me too. I have my email server up and running off of it. Plus since I am on Comcast up here in VA I am trying to get a VPN up and running so I can put my servers up here and tie them into the static ip down there in Miami.

The extra down and up speeds would really be nice. That is as long as it is stable and speeds are consistent. I have just heard of many people having problems with the Bellsouth PPPoE logins and such.

Think that was because they Boofed the implementation.

it will still have a static ip... even if it does require PPPoE...

it wont require an equipment change... but if your DSL modem/bridge dosent have a PPPoE dialer, and you dont have a router... you will need a PPPoE dialer for your pc... i recommend RASPPPoE very good & free

just about any soho/cisco will support PPPoE tho... the little westell's will also dial PPPoE for you

Good... Once I get mine back up, Cisco 827, I will be good to go. Just need to decide if it is worth it. AS I am sure it will require an additional year contract.

yea - but I would think there is a trial period involved too, in case the service stinks.

I decided to go with BellSouth rather than waiting, I'm 8900 from the CO. BellSouth is offering static IP., better news access and since I can purchase my own DSL modem (CompUSA $69) my monthly rate will remain the same. I'm supposed to be hot swapped on Monday so I won't experience any downtime.

May 05 2004: No mailings and I was promised an e-mail by DSLi. At this rate I will have to do the unthinkable and switch to someone that is on the ball. I hate the idea of BellSucks but there are a couple of local ISPs that have listed 3Mbps and I am going to stay or switch by the middle of this month.
