NBN has changed plans - passed unnoticed?Just today I have noticed that NBN has changed DSL service rates, 29.95 is not unlimited anymore, there is 10G caps for D+U, true unlimited starts from $34.95. Both are 3Mbit/s plans.
Does anybody knows how long ago this had happened? And will this apply to current customers who signed in with old terms? |

I just noticed this today too... I wonder how long it has been in effect. If I am charged extra, especially on this ****ed up month with the unstable service they have been providing lately, I am going to be majorly pissed off. |

Caps, lol ya right, if these caps are for users right now, and if we get charged if we go over them, Im leaving. This is supposed to be Unlimited. They did not even warn us either.
I just e-mailed them, we will see.
I Signed up for a year and already paid for the year, if I cancle they have to give me the rest of my $$ back correct??
Thanks |

Ouch. You should never prepay for internet a year in advance. Was it a special deal? |

Ya I had got a small deal the first year. I decided to pay for the whole year again in 2004. But If i cancel They have to give me the rest of my $$$ back for the rest of the year, which is a bit more then half a year.
Thanks |

This comes as a complete shock to me. It looks as if it was changed today or yesterday on their website.
If this truly does apply to us existing users, I'm very upset that we did not receive any notice about this change prior to it being updated on their website. I don't download a lot, but I'm probably close enough to that 10 gig cap that it's got me nervous. |

At 35 bucks who in their right mind would want to go with an unreliable ISP? |

Exactly.
You can pay 35 bucks to a good, reliable ISP and get decent service for the same price. |

lol...I prepaid for the whole year with VIF for 29.95 per month. I got this money back and more since I no longer need cable TV, music CD's, video rentals, software, porn... |

hmmmm what kind of business is this? did anyone get any emails about this??
I mean if they are going to change prices, and not tell anyone that is really sneaky, and if i get charged more on my statement i will complain to bbb or whatever people keep stating.
Funny thing is, i emailed the admin of nutnbut, couple weeks ago i believe i still have the email, and i asked him if any changes in prices would occur with our speeds etc and he said nothing in the near future, i guess that was till now
I would pay this price if they were actually reliable, p2p is still throttled etc. this isn't reliable.
I'd rather go with bell, sign a year contract for 39.95 and pay the extra few dollars and KNOW that iwont have any problems!! |

This is a joke, they changed the site in the past day or 2. Without any notice.
I have been VERY suportive of NBN over the past month or so while they have had thee problems, But if they think they are going to Put a 10gb Cap on now and think im going to stay with them, they are Very wrong and im going to take a bunch of people with me also.
Im sick and tiered of this, I hope this does not affect people that are already with them because if it does affect us they are going to lose even more buisnes. |

Its $35 CDN for 3mb connection, unlimited. Once things are stable( will they ever be??? ), NBN may have a pretty good deal. If only their service were not so damned unreliable... |

I just think it's bad business practices if it affects current Users and we were not informed.
I would pay this price like i said and istorm mentioned if it was reliable, and downtime to get thing fixed would not take a month. |

Perhaps the 3meg upgrades have had an adverse effect on their bandwidth, and they feel they gotta jack up the price to make up the profit. |
|

primus even is more reliable then nutnbut i bet and they offer the same prices. |

Wow, lucky I cancelled my NBN subscription last week. After a month of problem I had little faith in them, now it looks like they're going to solve there overloaded router problem by capping it's users, hehe. Anyways my subscription ended yesterday morning, and I signed up with Sympatico. Was up and running with Sympatico within half and hour, best of all I got 5 months @ $24.95 a month, no contract. It's not permanent but at least I have 5 months to find another ISP and see which of the independent one's stabilize.

Got an e-mail back from NBN asking about the caps and if it affects us already signed up with them...

So it does not affect us, so i guess i will be taying since it seems like their router problem has been fixed. I jut hope they dont go and charge me later on..... |

That is good to hear it's for the new clients only. Everything seems to be ok now with the connection and logging on, only downloading seem to be throttle or slow should i say. |
|
|
I hope that no mistakes happen in the billing, though i have a feeling that their will be . |

Regardless of not applying to existing users, this throttling is too much.
Not to mention we have no legal recourse if they forget that we are *existing* users. I pay monthly, maybe next month I will be considered a new user or something. Either way, it makes me itchy. And 10 gb? Give me a break, you can probably expend this just streaming high quality mp3 radio.
I guess I'll be switching to sentex for now. They still offer $29 unlimited, and supposedly have good service including giganews usenet. Although magma does look tempting. |

Sorry, actually Sentex now charges $35 as well. Magma's $40 a month service now looks even more enticing.
I suppose people here would recommend magma over sentex right? I know they have 30GB/30GB daytime caps as well as 4GB usenet caps, but I wonder if the relability is worth it. All these changing pricing plans of lower cost ISPs don't make me too happy. |

Yes, it is just something we have in place to ease traffic on the router. ---------------------------------------- Ayden Townsend V: (519) 432-6325 Nemo nisi intus superatus (You only get beaten from within)

are they blaming the new caps and price increase on bell too? |

Out of curiosity dirtyjeffer, what is your huge beef with NBN. I can expect those of use using them to dislike them, but you don't even use them. You also don't complain about other ISPs judging from your post history.
So what secret do you know that we don't that makes you single them out? There are far worse providers out there, CUIC for example. |
