Re: NBN has changed plans - passed unnoticed? That is good to hear it's for the new clients only. Everything seems to be ok now with the connection and logging on, only downloading seem to be throttle or slow should i say. |
 | I hope that no mistakes happen in the billing, though i have a feeling that their will be . |
 | Regardless of not applying to existing users, this throttling is too much.
Not to mention we have no legal recourse if they forget that we are *existing* users. I pay monthly, maybe next month I will be considered a new user or something. Either way, it makes me itchy. And 10 gb? Give me a break, you can probably expend this just streaming high quality mp3 radio.
I guess I'll be switching to sentex for now. They still offer $29 unlimited, and supposedly have good service including giganews usenet. Although magma does look tempting. |
 | Sorry, actually Sentex now charges $35 as well. Magma's $40 a month service now looks even more enticing.
I suppose people here would recommend magma over sentex right? I know they have 30GB/30GB daytime caps as well as 4GB usenet caps, but I wonder if the relability is worth it. All these changing pricing plans of lower cost ISPs don't make me too happy. |

Yes, it is just something we have in place to ease traffic on the router. ---------------------------------------- Ayden Townsend V: (519) 432-6325 Nemo nisi intus superatus (You only get beaten from within)

 | reply to Serop Out of curiosity dirtyjeffer, what is your huge beef with NBN. I can expect those of use using them to dislike them, but you don't even use them. You also don't complain about other ISPs judging from your post history.
So what secret do you know that we don't that makes you single them out? There are far worse providers out there, CUIC for example. |
 | didn't they say the new router would be configured yesterday and it would couple hours? my internet got disconnected and to my knowledge it took like 15minutes to log on! |

 | reply to Serop I think their modem is in now, im guessing they are just Configuring it now, tweaking it etc.... |
 | reply to Serop i guess have any reasons to be proud to be an AEI user lol. well, i heard aei users getting cut off for using alot. weird, but mine's been stable and inexepensive, no caps
i wonder why ppl still go for NBN? |

Do they? They had great reviews when I signed up, and they were great until about a month ago. I wouldn't go for them again nor recommend them though. |

NBN was a VERY decent ISP which provided excellent services at an excellent price tag.
Their 10 GB package should fit most users who doesn't download a lot, and comparably, is a better deal than Sympatico Light.
I will stick with them. I think I've been with them for a year.
One suggestion to them is to NEVER restart their router unless they give a 24-hr notice to all users. Suddenly restarting their routers will cause users to loose their internet connection, without them knowing why. -- What I used to be I no longer am... God, why can't you freeze time for my sake? |

I don't think I will. So far all ports other than 80 are throttled to modem speeds. The web is only part of what I use the net for and I am certainly not going to pay $35 or even $29 for *just* web browsing. And the fact that they will barely even admit to it and will not say if it's permanent (it sure looks that way) or not just makes it all the worse. |
 | reply to Serop from an email i got from ayden i think i put it in this forum, is that they throttling was in place to ease the router, and when they have the new router in place it will all be back to normal though i am not sure how long they are going to take to put this new router in place though THEY did say it would take several days and since the email on bell part it has taken at least two days now. |
 | A support technician told me that the port throttling was removed, but my p2p speeds are still at dialup speeds. This is after resetting the modem a few times. Anyone else getting better speeds? |
 | They are lying. My P2P speed is 7-8K max. |
 | all we keep hearing from these guys are bs lies lies lies anymore? |
 | Port throttling seems to be gone. Yay. They did come through, but damn did it take a long long long time. |
 | reply to Serop I think NBN is still having problems. Here are my list from today as i surf the web and download.
port throttling (slow downloading) some web pages won't load since today login on getting disconnected every few hours
Look like nothing seems to be fix yet. I'll wait till the end of this month, if things are still the same i'll be cancelling my account and find a new ISP. |
