| reply to Bink63 A quick way to tell the difference between the Motorola DCT6208 (Single Tuner DVR) and the DCT6412 (Dual Tuner DVR).
The 6208 has 2 coax attachments, Cable In and To TV/VCR.
The 6412 only has Cable In. |

Note there is a new Forum that you may want to cross link to: e.g.
DVR Chatter -- Talk and information about the DCT-6412 DVR and more (Est. 2/14/05) --> »www.dvrchatter.com/
Also I am updating my Web page: »www.wematter.com/comcast-dvr in case you want to point to it thought as you see it is very un-professional.
p.s. I do like your site and thank you. |

| reply to Bink63 I think we need to get insiders (reps) from comcast to give us more information. This could be a general idea for all topics. Some topics that come to mind are:
Satellite vs Cable and ongoing Discussion of the plus and minuses of both.
Channels that need to be removed pros and cons. |

| Those are certainly good topics of discussion, but I don't feel that they should be included in the forum's Frequently Asked Questions.
Feel free to start threads on those topics and I'm sure that there will be some lively debate!

Regards,
Randy

| reply to Bink63 How about instructions on how to check your box's signal levels for the Motorolas? Also, for the S-A boxes, there are already some good FAQ entries written in the Cablevision forum since they're exclusively S-A. -- Comcast BBQ |

Currently being implemented system-wide ADS provides simultaneous transmission of digital versions of analog channels. |

| said by Bink63 :ADS = Analog/Digital SimulcastCurrently being implemented system-wide ADS provides simultaneous transmission of digital versions of analog channels. Actually, internally when we say ADS we mean All Digital Simulcast.
Analog/Digital Simulcast is somewhat redundant. |

| reply to TonyB9 The link at midcomm.com is currently broken.
I know how to program the 30-second skip and kind of know how to program the swap button. That info should be in a FAQ.
There's a bunch of info that everyone with a Comcast DVR would want to know.
Tips when setting up recordings. e.g. if you have HD, and you set up a series recording that records on any channel, it'll record the regular channel instead of the HD version, if simulcast. Recording minutes before/after a show usually isn't needed. -- SBC is the world's second-largest SpamHaus and leads an Organized Crime Syndicate. Also see TURN.org or UCAN. |

| reply to Bink63 sure, I just got the DCT3412. First question I'd have - I see ethernet, and firewire ports, am I legally permitted to do anything with these? If this box were IP addressable, that would be very cool. Also, only a 120GB drive. I know I'd likely be charged for the box if I broke it, am I breaking a law by upgrading the drive to 300GB? Seems that I'm not stealing anything, but I'm sure somewhere along the way a hack like this is a felony..... nevermind on the last question. JOE |

@comcast.net | reply to Bink63 How about a glossary of technical terms (hum, mer, etc.) and atlas of signal propagation (he-node-tap etc.) ? Two major contributions to this faq but surely most useful and wanted. |
