Each state we serve has its own speedtest server. While we are not done developing the application and tools to interface it, we believe that the current testing solution will give you an accurate estimate of your speed.
I ask however that you do a few things before testing.
1) connect directly to the modem ( make sure you reboot your modem when switching devices )
2) make sure all other applications, including email checking and web browsers are closed ( p2p filesharing the most important of the bunch )
3) run a virus/trojan scan to make sure you are not infected
Test your speed to the closest server geographically. While you may get great speeds on all the servers, latency and distance do factor into your speeds.
