No performance difference assuming the crossover or swapper aren't poor quality.
Sounds like you have a split line for the ADSL. If you have access to that separate cable and jack you could just rewire it. And if you are going to go to that trouble, you could rewire it so that either modem would work. Just connect one lead to pins 1&2, the other to pins 3&4. So long as you use a four wire cable, either modem will work.
Or, just leave it alone and get a "2 Line Adapter" at Radio Shack and plug it in. The Line 2 jack will then work with the Westell. Remove the device to use the Alcatel. |

Fort Lauderdale, FL | Quickest fix. Plug it in, shove a phone into line 2, check for dial tone.....should be good to go. Just make sure you are using four wire cord. |

Miami, FL | The line swapper worked. The Westell is up and running. Thanks for all the help. This may have taken weeks through Bell South support. By the way, prior to posting here, my streak of disconnects while holding for support was up to 5. |
