| reply to richardak This is probably a regional offering so before everyone gets excited, remember, each franchise can do whatever they want.
You will probably not see it any time soon in your area. -- TripOnThis.net Administrator |

| I just sent in a complaint a few days ago asking about this kind of service. I mean... if you order the Business Class for at home use... you get a penalty for ordering additional bandwidth. To me that doesn't make sense. Let me see... I am currently getting 3mb/384kb and if I want to go to 3mb/512kb it cost me $50 for 128kb more pipe... thats makes no sense and $99 for 384kb more. I worked for 3 telco companies... all of them gave a discount to customers that wanted to increase bandwidth... you encourage your existing customers to order more not less. If I went with there 3mb/768kb package at 139 I could just about order 2 extra cable connections for the same price... what kind of pricing is this?
»www.mybrightbiz.com/vpnsolutions.asp For Residential Locations Only! Package Speed Down Speed Up Email Addresses Price Virtual Office I 3 Mbps 384 Kbps 5 $69.95 Virtual Office II 3 Mbps 512 Kbps 25 $99.95 Virtual Office III 3 Mbps 768 Kbps 25 $139.95
If they are rolling out a 6mb/512kb home upgrade I am there, but this current price structure sucks... absolutely no incensive to upgrade. Just my two cents. |

| reply to richardak I got the e-mail last night and just ordered it. At first the girl on the phone had no idea what I was talking about. She went and asked someone about it and came back and said she could bump me up if I wanted it. Told me what my cable bill would be with the speed increase, had me unplug my cable modem and plug it back in, and then my download speed went up like a mofo.
Now I need to know what I should set my TcpWindowSize to. I was using 48180 for my 3Mbps connection. Any ideas? I want to squeaze as much out of this as I can. |

I can confim the availability in San Antonio. I got the email yesterday morning. Used the link to order, TW called me back at 3:00 PM and had me reboot the modem. That is all. Best spped test I've gotten so far was 5.5 down and 600 up!! |

I know what your saying but they are not offering a similar package for residential besides the Work From Home solution which to me is a ripoff... you would be better off getting regular residential cable and a backup DSL line... it would still be cheaper than what they are offering. Sorry, I just doesn't get that Work From Home package... however, I could see quite a few people upgrading to say 4mb/512kb for say another $15 and maybe 5mb/768 for and extra $30, but this Work From Home solution makes zero sense regardless if they supposedly give you business support. Which in my experience is the same as residential until you pay huge bucks for business access not a few hundred dollars a month but thousands if not tens of thousands.
Something like this would make sense to me for residential: 3mb/384kb $45 4mb/512kb $65 6mb/768kb $75
You should get a discount on extra bandwidth not a penalty.
Just my two cents. |
