[Help] WAN not connecting - Linksys BEFW11S4

My network is fine... i can share files between my computers, but my WLAN (wireless) will not connect and my cable modem will not link with the router's WAN port.

"Link" light is not on at all.
"Act" light is on solid green.
"Diag" light is on solid red.

Have tried several ethernet cables and 3 different cable modems and a DSL modem. None will link.

I also tried holding down the "Reset" button on the back for 1 minute.

any info is greatly appreciated.

thanks

Is your firmware up to date?I'm not an expert on this, but updating the flash on my BEFW11S4 solved a lot of my problems similar to yours.

The reason why you can share files between my computers is that switch part on the router is still working and the solid red diag signify a hardware problem...

Try to resolve this by hard resetting the router(linksys tech style)- hold reset for 30secs, pull the power while holding the reset wait for another 30sec and put the power back in and wait for 30sec more and release the reset...' i don't know why this is their procedure but it works for some routers'...

or try setting a static IP on the PC, a 192.162.1.2 with a subnet of 255.255.255.0, and ping the routers' IP(192.168.1.1). If you got a reply then that's the time that you can upgrade or re-flash the firmware of the router

and if that doesn't work return the device from the manufacturer, if that is still under warranty...

Go »www.linksys.com/download/
Select your product, and version of windows. And download the firmware.
Or you can download it here »ftp://ftp.linksys.com/pub/befsr41/befw···_145.zip
Will work with versions 2/3/3.2 .And it's for Windows XP.Just follow the readme.
Wish you luck.

yes linksys uses a TFTP to upgrade the firmware of the router just look for a version number underneath the router... when you download the firmware, the zip file includes a TFTP program and just run it...

it will ask for a server which is the routers' IP and the password use the default: 'admin' and for the file you need to find the code.bin file by clicking on the three dots right beside the file box.

i guess my router is toast... i can't login to the internal page 192.168.1.1
i can ping it though....

the linksys firmware upgrade won't link to it either...

If you still aren't getting a link lite on the WAN port then there is no connection between your modem and the router. I assume you changed the cable between the router and modem and reset the router to it's default settings.

Inspect the RJ45 connectors on both the router and modem and see if there are any band pins.

It looks like you get a link lite on the Lan side so you should still be able to access the router setup pages at 192.168.1.1 using you PC.
