I wonder if this is the version that "fixes" PlayFair?

Who knows. Just keep a backup of the current iTunes if it does. I still have a copy of iTunes 4.0 that allows you to share songs to whoever.

Works fine for me...

But now I can't find a link to make iTunes music addition suggestions... What's up with that?

Thanks!
Would have been nice if they kept a direct link in the program.

This looks like the only new thing:

What's new in iTunes 4.5

Using iTunes 4.5, you can DJ your own parties with Party Shuffle, share playlists with friends, print jewel case inserts, and much more.

I haven't installed it yet, but it's downloaded. I hope the app doesn't get too bloated with extra features. I love it just the way it is! What was wrong with the regular shuffle mode? I use it all the time. I guess I will see what "Party Shuffle" does when I install this version. It may be something I just can't live without for all I know. Okay, I'm done rambling.:D

I actually suggested the Jewel Case printer function about 2-3 months back to them! Thanks Apple for putting that feature in there.

Works like a charm!

There's a lot more that's new besides the Party Mix.... You gotta do some more exploring in the program....

Movie Trailers (through the encapsulated Quicktime in the program itself)

Music Videos

Even an old Apple Ad with Barry White, George Clinton, Smashmouth... the one where the kid walks into the theater with the Artists on stage...

Charts from Radio Stations across the country

Jewel Case Song List Creation, etc.

iMix

Importation and conversion of WMA files (unprotected) to AAC for Windows users only supposedly, however ....

And Apple's Lossless Codec... which is probably FLAC.

Oh there's more... and it's all good.

I'm trying it out now.

It's got one feature that I was wondering how long i would take them to add - in your regular iTunes library, all of the artist, song, album, composer names, etc, are linked to the iTunes Music Store, with the little arrow-in-circle next to them for you to click on. You can turn this feature off in the prefs if desired.

There is a feature to group compilations while browsing.

Then there's the party shuffle thing. The only big difference I can see is that it chooses a finite set of songs, rather than the regular shuffle, which just keeps going. So I guess if you have a 2-hour party, you can have it pick out two hours of music, and it will show you exactly what it's going to play. Then I suppose you have the advantage of some editorial control before the songs play.

Yeah, I like the Party Shuffle, that's a cool feature. But, I am getting rid of those arrows cluttering up my library. I'm glad you mentioned they could be turned off in preferences, thanks!
Until Apple gives access to its music store to Canada, I don't really need my songs to be linked back to its store.
Oh, and IPPlanMan See Profile, in my first post I was only referring to what Apple said was what was new in iTunes 4.5, as I said, I had not installed it yet. I have now installed it, and now, as you said, I will "explore more in the program." I didn't know I had to do that in order to see what was really new and exciting for myself.;)

More authorized machines, less burns....seems fair. With my iPod, iTrip and multiple Macs both at work and home...I don't really burn CDs anymore anyway.

The one free download a week will help push iTMS downloads to the magic number pretty fast.

Or click on the iTunes 4.5 pic on the music store, and you'll find the link on the next page.

Incompatible
One interesting note: if you upgrade to iTunes 4.5, you cannot share music with people running earlier versions of iTunes. I just tried to connect to the shared library of someone else here at the office, and I got the message shown above.

You can also publish your playlists to the Music Store now.

Highlight a playlist then look under the File menu.

I have watched Music Videos in iTunes 4.2 so that's not new to 4.5…

It's been like that the last few updates IIRC.
