Re: [Info] New Atheros driver 3.1.1.48

Just curious but how do you toggle between turbo and non-turbo SuperG modes?

The options for changing modes are on the router or access point. Click the "ADVANCED" tab and then look for "PERFORMANCE". You can't toggle anything for operating speed on the wireless network card that this driver is for.

Hmmm, the wireless card I have came out of the DI-774 but my router is a Netgear FWAG114 and it can never see anything above 54Mbps.

I'm using this driver for quite a while.
It's nice, but the only thing I miss is ability to automate connecting, so when one AP goes offline, it will switch to another one from the list or access closest unsecured network.

Hey,

I've got a D-Link DWL-G650 Rev B2. My notebook has been freezing constantly and blue screening to the error with ar5211.sys. Of course this is the network card driver. Now, I am unable to fix this. Anyone have any suggestions?

@vdsl.easysurfnet.de

I have a DWL-G650 Rev B3 card in my notebook with Windows 2000, the new Atheros driver 3.1.1.4 works great for me.
My idea is, you did something wrong during installation of the new driver.
Try the following procedure:
- Remove the card
- Remove Atheros SW (Uninstall Software)
- Reboot
- Use Device Manager to remove Atheros driver, if you still see it
- Delete ar5211.sys (or ar52119.sys for XP) from C:\winnt....
- Use REGEDIT.EXE to carefully remove references to ATHEROS from registry, if possible
- Find the *.inf files referring to ar5211.sys in WINNT\INF, probably called OEMx.inf and delete the file.
- Reboot
- install card
- Install D-LINK driver (only) again. Prefereably, use driver file version 2.48 (Driver 2.1.3.1 from DLINK.UK) Thats the version I used
- Unpack Atheros driver files from .exe (Simply run the exe). Will expand files into \mr31148
- Force an update of the D-Link driver, to be replaced by the Atheros files. That means, use Device Manager-
Properties-Driver to point to D-Link network card, driver, and then do an update of the driver, using "Have Disk".
Point to \mr31148\WINXP. Windows will complain, that the new driver is not suitable, but use it anyway.
- Configure Networkadrs. etc.
- Reboot
- Run SETUP for Atheros from \Ateros_1.41 to install utility only.
- Reboot
Configure your card for WEP etc.

Just being curious, let me know how it works.

Atheros 3.1.1.48 on Sharp PC-MC22 works well!

Thanks for the driver update. My Sharp PC-MC22 laptop came pre-installed with an Atheros AR5001X+ wi-fi card. Recently, I ran into problems with intermittent blue-screening after installing some firewall software and felt re-installing my nic drivers would help. I came across your download link in my driver search and am glad I did. After installing the complete 3.1.1.48 driver/utilities package, I have even better nic performance than before (thanks for the heads-up on finding the "English" install). For those using WEP, a configuration adjustment might be needed - that's where the diagnostics routine in the utilities helped pinpoint the issue for me quickly.

Re: [Info] New Atheros driver 3.1.1.48

Works great on my AG650 as well. Now I connect to the Netgear HE102 802.11a AP instead.. no more prob since I don't use the DI-624 Wireless signal anymore! (Duh.. why is it a wireless router then?)

Same here, got it running for my Netgear WAG511 in g-mode w/ WEP connecting to a Netgear WG602v2. Works like a charm and is far from being the same cpu-resource hog as the current 2.0 Netgear driver (which sucks immensely).

Keep it up!

This driver seems to work for me (Netgear WG311), too. Super-G won't connect, as already described here.

However, I cannot find the option to choose the country I'm living in. With all previous drivers this was possible (I'm living in Germany) but this driver is set to US as default. Maybe someone can help me here? Or am I just missing something?
It is important for me to set this to Germany (or Europe) because we have 13 possible channels here compared to 11 in the US.

This driver seems to work great on my G520 rev A and G650 Rev. B.

Anyone know of a similar driver for the G520 Rev. B or G650 Rev C? Dlink uses a different driver for these newer revision, so I'm assuming it uses a different chipset. Any idea which one it uses?

The G520 card that I have has two screws holding on the cover. If you remove the cover you can see the part #s on the chips if you need that info. Cheers.

After days of messing around with the latest DI-624 and DWL-g650 combo I tried the Atheros driver. Everything goes now - simply unbelievable!

D-Link is really scum for slipping non-working software into the hands of its customers. Talking to their support people is mind-boggling. They don't have the faintest clue of what is going on. They have simply been trained to get rid of complaints.

D-Link this is truly scandalous!

OK
For the sake of dumb old me, can anyone clarify a few points??
1) Many references are made to driver versions 2.4x etc I have a DWL-650 (rev C) and my driver reckons it is version 3.0.0.44 - any ideas?
2)Will these atheros drivers work for a Rev C DWL-650?? (sorry if I have missed the answer to this Q in the thread...!)

Thanks

I really wanted to try this out, but unfortunately the link to the download is broken. Can someone mirror it or send it to me at vellox@shaw.ca ? Thanks

Everybody can still get it right from Fujitsu:

You could also give these a shot from Fujitsu USA. They are slightly older versions. I haven't tried them so I don't know what, if any, differences there might be between these and the Japanese drivers.
