Re: 384K :) upload

I have DSL at 4mbps/512Kbps for 29.95/mo And holy crap is it nice.

I can get up to 5 IPs, 2 of which can be optionally static. Ahh, I'm just bragging

He probably means his cable provider. Most of the country has Comcast, Charter, Time Warner, or Adelphia. All but Time Warner give 256kbps upstream at the base package price.

Blanket statements are always confusing, since it seems that there's no consistency regarding service provided by the various internet providers.

The 384Kbps Upload is what the power users are "really" clamoring for -- I wouldn't shed a tear if 1.5Mbps remains the max download rate -- it would still blow away cable.

Exactly how does this blow away cable?

I have 4Mbps/512Kbps service for about $40.00/month (bundled price). Speeds don't change anytime during the day. No caps. 3 different IPs can be pulled simultaneously.

How is DSL better?
