They have 2 weeks trial membership, free. Some of the movies I ordered they don't really have them in stock so they ordered them. It's kind of slow, they're based in Ottawa. I think I'm going to cancel after 2 weeks.

I had no problem with Zip.ca but I am having major problems with moviesforme.ca I suggest you stay away from them.

I get my movies from zip the day after the said they have been shipped. I took 3 weeks to get movies from the other company and when I cancelled my account they still charged me for the month.

I just signed up for them on the 1st. They shipped out the DVD's on Monday (3rd), and I got one on the 5th, 6th and 7th. I don't know why I didn't get them all at once, but its not really a problem. The DVDs are in very good condition, and come pre-paid to send back.

I've already made up a list of over 30 movies, and I send one back yesterday, so I should be getting another one next week. You can also keep DVDs for as long as you want, which is nice.

So far, its been great. Fast shipping, good service, great selection. I'd highly recommend them.

I posted this in another thread, but I was trying out some of the companies this year and created a webpage with some of the info I collected.

ZIP just announced they are now providing 4 DVDs for the same $25/month, and also have 6 DVD option for $35/month.

Agreed. Moviesforme was a nightmare. Haven't had any problems with CinemaFlow but will give Zip.ca a chance...

Zip. ca has been excellent! I have tried many of the other Canadian DVD online rental services and by far this is the best!

Items are shipped in a timely manner and the website is very efficient in alerting you to what has been shipped, what has been returned, etc.

This truly rivals Netflix in the States!

I found a free message board hosting site, and have created a forum as an adjunct to my DVD rental info pages. There is a link from the homepage. Feel free to join up and contribute if you are using a DVD rental service, or have questions about them.

How exactly does this work? They send you the dvds to ur house? (like someone knocks on the door). or do they send it to the post office and u pick it up there? Or do they just throw it in ur mail box?

Slightly OT, but does anyone know of a Canadian service that rents video games by mail in the same way?

The DVDs are just sent by regular Canada Post - wherever your mail gets delivered.

For games, the only ones I know of right now are Relay and DVD-Rental (you can find links on my webpage), both of which seem to be at the lower end in terms of movie selection (I haven't dealt with either of them myself). But I wouldn't be surprised if one of the larger companies gets into this as well - VHQ already rents movies in their physical stores, I think.

if it gets delivered to ur mail box, can't the paperboy or someone just *yoink* it? then you end up having to pay for it.

Sure... but isn't that the case with any mail you receive?

well, if u get 4 dvds and he yoinks 4 i'm sure zip.ca will make you pay for it ($80+)

Well I'm sure it doesn't say "RENTAL DVDs" on the package.

Stop being so paranoid. People don't often get stuff stolen from their mailboxes.

Its a big red envelope, and on the back it says "ZIP.ca; Unlimited Entertainment". Anyone who knows what ZIP.ca is.. well.
