| Yahoo Mail + Zone Alarm Pro For a year on a daily basis at home I use Yahoo Mail via my Dell XP wireless laptop with ZAP. A week ago I had to start shutting down ZAP in order to see the Yahoo mailbox message list pages (In Box, Sent, Draft etc). I am able to log in to Yahoo Mail and connect to the US212 page but all I get is the top of the page showing Yahoo Mail with "my account" and "Log Out"- the in box page listing messages does not appear unless I disable ZAP. I haven't made any changes to ZAP default settings since originally installed a year ago. I have since changed privacy settings to allow all cookies except 3rd party- still no go. Similar problem with ABC Online news that started two months ago. Anyone with a fix? |

keith2468Premium,MVM join:2001-02-03 Winnipeg, MB | You don't want to be shutting down your ZA for even a few minutes, unless you unplug from the Internet first.
I'm thinking it may be a corrupt file that would be fixed by re-installing it. You could try re-installing ZA. And make sure you run Windows Update to get all Critical Fixes and Service Packs.
Which operating system are you running?
What anti-virus and security software do you have installed on your computer?
If you think it is malware, you could run through this check list: »Security »I think my computer is infected or hijacked. What should I do?
In fact, even if it isn't malware, the Belarc Advisor step might tell you if it is a Windows Hotfix that has somehow come off. So maybe run that step first.
I hope that helps.

| reply to landry98 Missed the security question- 128 bit encryption. I doubt this is malware as everything works fine except Yahoo Mail and ABC online. I was considering an uninstall/reinstall of ZAP but posted first to be sure this wasn't an issue for someone else.
thanks. |

 | reply to landry98 Ran the Belarc- nothing remarkable. I noted that there was an SP2 download on 5/5 which I didn't download (NAV liveupdate?) This is just about the time yahoo mail started acting up. |

If it was Windows, that is still in testing. That could cause the problem.
If it was SP2 of something else, it might have been a bad install, and you could re-run it. (The Microsoft support forum guys can tell you how. I struggled for 2 hours last weekend re-applying some MSIE fixes. There are some registry edits, and then you re-download MSIE, and then you run Windows Update and you are back up-to-date again. Sounds simple, but I think it took me 3 or 4 tries to get it right.) -- (Virus&Hijacking FAQ+Submit suspected malware+Security FAQ) |

 | reply to landry98 Windows XP (home edition)- still a little confused how the SP2 downloaded as I didn't do it. My philosophy with MS OS downloads is to leave well enough alone. |

| reply to landry98 You mentioned you...."changed privacy settings to allow all cookies except 3rd party"....in ZAPro ?
Have you disabled ZAP's Privacy features in order to further narrow it down ?
I'm not sure a refresh of ZAP's database files is necessary but in case you want to consider that....below is the link with instructions.

| reply to landry98 Just came back from dinner- wife goes to check her Yahoo email and I'm in the process of telling her how to disable ZAP and she says- I don't have to do that, I'm already reading mail in my inbox. I honestly have no idea what's going on- I haven't done anything except download, install and run Belarc. Maybe Yahoo IT guys read BBRs?
Have to wait and see what happens. Thanks to all who responded. |

IGGYNo Guru Just Here To HelpPremium,MVM join:2001-03-30 Chatham, IL | As was mentioned above. I'd try lowering your privacy settings in ZAP. I've not had any issues checking Yahoo mail using ZAP. But I also only check my Yahoo account once every few months.
Also as was mentioned above. Disabling your software firewall for even a few minutes nowadays - if a NAT router isn't connected to your machine - can in fact lead to a very quick worm infection.
You mentioned SP2 being download onto your machine. This wouldn't have happened even if you had automatic updates on. Do to the fact that SP2 is still in testing. So someone must have manually installed the SP2. As far as I know you can only get a public available build here »www.microsoft.com/technet/prodte···iew.mspx

| Sorry for the delay- ran Belarc which showed download of SP2 (for XP) on 5/5/04. Just me, my wife and the cat here. Have hardware firewall and NAT (router) in front. Yahoo mail still working fine- have given up on ABC Online.
