It is comming. VZ is placing and splicing fiber like crazy. I belive their goal is to pass 1 million homes this year and even more next year. The three markets I know of are: MD, VA and TX. I don't know what will be handed off to the customer but the "carrier" will be running at 622mbs down and 155 mbs up on individual fibers to each customer from a hub placed in their neighborhood.
