Why can't I connect to the webmail servers?

We just got hooked up yesterday. We're online fine, but we can't check our yahoo webmail accounts.

It basically says "Connecting to f407.mail.yahoo.com" and then it goes nowhere. It's been like this since we hooked it up.

Any ideas what might be wrong? I can get to all other websites that I've tried.

We have the 2wire wireless.

What browser or website? You said it' goes nowhere

Assuming you got ALL the way througfh registration, correct
You mentioned you are browsing ok, so that is good.

1) Can you login to sbc.yahoo.com (the Yahoo browser site)

2) If you can, are you referring to the standard Yahoo mail

or the sbcglobal email that you would have registered?

This is just going to SCREAM "we're confused". LOL!

When we first got the software installed and the modem stuff, we had to choose an sbcglobal.net username/password. We did that, but we haven't been able to use it since?!

It doesn't work logging into the sbc.yahoo.com page. We get a login error page. I can't setup our mail in Outlook because it fails.. login error.

We thought that might be because our account doesn't go "live" until today, but it's still not allowing us.

So when we sign in to the sbc.yahoo.com page, we're using our old Yahoo ID / password. That works fine, but then we can't check the webmail associated with that account. It just hangs at "connecting to..." and never goes anywhere.

We logged in using our old dial-up account and it connects just fine.

Also, when I turn my computer on, I just open a browser window and I'm already online. It's supposed to be like that, right? LOL

1) Which modem do you have?

2) Is it a little black Speedstream modem? 5100
3) If so, are there 3 or 4 solid green lights on?

You mentioned your OLD yahoo ID, that you would use on login.yahoo.com
sbc.yahoo.com is meant for the scbglobal ID that you registered with, NOT the Yahoo ID ( It is strange that you can get access to both Yahoo and Sbcglonbal on the login.yahoo.com site)
