| How many residents are in the area being served? It'd take over 300 people maxing their connections out to fill that pipe. Don't forget that they can always use traffic shaping techniques, such as giving VoIP and VPN ports high priority, HTTP/FTP/gaming ports standard priority, and common P2P ports low priority. Another option would be to offer 3mbps BURST to the heavy P2P users, and cut them down to 1mbps after ~10 seconds of sustained traffic. There's ways to oversell a single connection while keeping 99.5% of your customers happy. The WISP on a shoestring budget has become very familiar with this. |
