| When you do call the Atlanticbb phone number, be prepared for little help. A level one tech answers the phone, then transfers to a level two tech who in my experience in the last few days with my problems with the stalker.com email software recommends uninstalling your browser... He actually told me he was doing his research on google to fix the problem, which I can do on my own, so it doesn't look like they are very well trained. The level two tech then passes the problem onto a level three tech, but you don't talk to the level three tech, it's just passed along to them. I did not uninstall my browser, I simply told him I never had problems before atlanticbb took over and it wasn't by email client it had to be because of the stalker.com software. The problems I have experienced I have fixed on my own. A hint, when you do your mail settings for outgoing server and put in smtp.atlanticbb.net, click "never" under choose secure connection or not only will you be putting in your password when you open your email and when you send your first email, but you will also be putting in your password each time you send an email. Another thing, at first I had problems sending email to people in my family in my email browser but not on the web based email client. I deleted their addresses in my address book then recreated them, and for some reason that worked. As I said before in the charter forum, you will be accepting a certificate from stalker.com when you create your email addresses. |

| Obviously, a lot of people are annoyed, irritated, nervous, or whatever, about the changes taking place. I would appreciate the ongoing existance of this forum to hear opinions, complaints or whatever. From what I've read already on some of the ABB posts, many of the complaints seem uneducated and illegitimate. I welcome the opportunity for customers, techs, or whomever, to be able to continue these posts as an alternate means of communication and resolution, and hopefully less of a random ranting session. Internally, I see the company looking to make many positive changes in comparison to the old, so sit tight and try to be patient in the transition period.

| Do you know how rash and irresponsible to suggest that a person uninstall their email client/browser and that tech has to do a search on google to fix a problem? Do you know how much trouble it causes for someone to lose all their bookmarks, email, address book and settings, especially when that is not the problem? For me, I save all my bookmarks, address books etc, but imagine the frustation of someone who is new to computers who would believe what that tech said! Obviously you are someone who handles trouble whenever others fail, you are, as you said a level three tech. If you have that level of authority perhaps you might strive to improve the situation. I understand you hear people complain all day, but if you don't mind me saying so, you sound a little irritated, and to say the posts are "uneducated and illegitimate" is more than a little judgmental. If you are in fact referring to my posts, I stated exactly what is happening, I did not lie, these are all facts and I am very computer literate. I have yet to see anything positive, if there was, I would post it, raising prices and inadequate training for the tech support people is not a positive situation. If you as you say want less of a "random ranting session" then don't rant yourself using words designed to make it less likely that open communication can happen. I would hope you give some thought to your words and not shut off a open method of communication. We, after all are your true employers, if your company does not have customers you do not have a job. I welcome open communication, but I refuse to add fire to the flames of the words you posted. |

| reply to nozero In S. Fla they are not changing the e-mail, we will still be @the-beach.net. For web based [when out of town] same as before and you will be directed to Atlantic, same user name and pass word. At least this is what their tech guy told me this morning. So far everything else is still the same. Mr Natural |

| reply to nozero That is true, you will get lower speed for the same money:
Starter Service: 160/160 ($29.95) Preferred Service: 1500/160 ($45.95) Max Service: 3000/160 ($64.95)
All prices are without Cable TV service. It should be a little bit cheaper with Cable TV. I now have 256/128 and pay $29.95 (Charter). Probably they will soon lower my speed if i don't upgrade to a higher package. I'm realy thinking about switching to Verizon where i can get 1500 download for $29.95 |

From Yahoo.com
said by Yahoo.com: New High Speed Internet and Video Packages Introduced in South Florida
NORTH BAY VILLAGE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--May 24, 2004--Atlantic Broadband formally launches service today in eleven local communities, including Miami Beach, marking the final step in its acquisition of cable television systems serving more than 85,000 residential, bulk and commercial customers in South Florida. Atlantic completed its acquisition of several systems formerly operated by Charter Communications on March 1 of this year. Kevin Maguire, Vice President and General Manager, noted, "Our facilities, vehicles and customer communications will carry our new logo. Most important, however, is our mission: to deliver products and services that simplify and enrich the lives of our customers". Maguire said that Atlantic has initiated a number of changes intended to simplify packaging, enhance value and enable customers to create customized packages that meet their needs and their budgets...........

| Here is the site: »www.atlanticbb.com/wfhome_gen.as···c&page=6. For now it was suggested to me when I called them to not change anything. If you change anything you are subject to the new prices and packages. I now have the silver package with 768 speed and I pay 86 a month. They now have a family package for more and you will pay for the rental of your modem and you will lose any channels over channel 77, the speed will for that package will be 1500 but you will have to lose the digital box, the extra channels and will have to pay rental for the cable modem. They no longer offer 768 speed, but when I called them they said hang tight and nothing will change... for now, for existing customers. Here is the price for that "family plan" that will lose you so many channels you now receive and this is without the digital box and channels and this price does not include the cable modem fee of 4 dollars, they said they were giving a dollar discount, but now I pay nothing for my modem. The price is: $83.04 Price exclude taxes, franchise fees, FCC user fees or other assessments. Equipment fees are not included. The price without equipment for what you know have plus the 1500 speed will be 112 dollars It's all on the site. |

| reply to micropitt Micropitt - As you note these prices are only if you don't subscribe to cable tv - the 1.5 service is $33.95 if you subscribe to the standard video service. That's $12 less and a buck cheaper than I would pay for DSL because I don't want LD thru Verizon. Its also less than I used to pay for 768 service. |

| reply to chinadad Well, let's take a look at the pricelist: Right now i have every TV channel they offer (including HBO and Showtime) plus Internet with 256/128 and i pay around $90/month. If i upgrade my Internet service i probably will pay around $125/month. If i drop my cable internet i pay around $76 for TV service (with same channels) plus $29.95 for verizon DSL which then comes to around $106/month. If i don't do anything then sooner or later they will drop my speed and still charge the same money. Actualy i was hoping they would offer more then 3 TV packages because i have lots of channels i don't watch. But if i want to have 1 specific channel, i have to buy the package with 20 other channels. But i guess that is with every cable provider. And here is the point which makes me a bit angry: I got Charter Internet in 2002 and paid $29.95 for 512/128, then they cut it to 256/128 and i still paid $29.95, now the price soon will be $29.95 for 160/160. If i compare the Atlantic Broadband (Charter) pricelist to other cable provider it looks very different. In the last 7 years our local Cable provider has changed hands 5 times and each time they either cut the service or raised the prices. The only thing that is the same are the people who work there. If i call the billing lady in the local office, it is the same lady i talked to 7 years ago |
