Dealing with this issue right now!
Dell Inspiron Laptop, new. Installed Linksys 54G card. Worked great for about 2 weeks. One morning the laptop gets turned on and it can't connect right away. Takes it over a minute, and it's on and off all day, all by itself. The activity LED on the PCCArd appears to have long gaps of no connectivity during large file transfers. Even if I turn off all security on my WRTG54S router and turn SSID on, the Dell Laptop only 'sees' an available signal part of the time, this all the while the laptop is 4 feet from the router.
I have been going crazy trying to troubleshoot this. GAD! Hope MS owns up to this, and offers a fix. BTW, this same card in a Win98se laptop is rock solid. |
