| reply to JeepMatt Don't be too surprised that it's pushed back even further. Many areas are waiting for the new Motorola DVRs to come out, then they will launch them. That's how it is here in almost all of MI, even though the warehouses have the DCT-6208's collecting dust. |

That would make sense to me. Why deploy an inferior product, when in a couple months everyone will want to replace it with the two-tuner model? Hopefully the two-tuner model will be released concurrently with the new TV Guide software ("i-guide," not the current "blue" guide). |

| reply to JeepMatt Will it have a dual tuner? If not I see no reason to replace my TiVo with this, especially with all the new features TiVo just announced. --

| reply to 58483323 I'm in Schaumburg and just got my 6208 installed today. Firmware is v7.07, and the 5C setting is 0.
The DVR functionality is pretty good, but FireWire performance is worse than the 6200 - lots of macro blocking right now when recording to DVHS via FireWire, but it may be weather related.
If you call Comcast and ask for DVR, the front line CSR probably won't know diddly about it. Ask to get transferred to the group handling DVR registrations, or ask to talk to the customer retention group. DVR is a soft launch right now, so the reps aren't fully aware it is available.
Rollout is supposedly taking place in the north and western suburbs first, moving south and toward Chicago last. |

The 1394 issues are firmware related, not box related. Firmware 7.10 seems to resolve the majority of those issues according to postings at »www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/forumdis···rumid=42

| Have had my SA DVR in the South Jersey Comcast service area since December, beta tester for the company. Since April, it has been soft launched for areas in Southern New Jersey that uses the SA but have yet to be introduce to area that uses the GI/Motorola units. Have a few of my colleagues at Comcast that are beta testing the GI/Motorola units, major difference right now is that SA dvr's are dual tuners(can record 2 programs at once) and the Motorola are single tuners(must watch what you are recording). Late July is the soft launch of the Motorola units in South Jersey. Until Comcast receive word from Motorola on the next gen DVR units, the soft launch will be only for the single tuner unit. Also SA HD units with DVR is launching in July in Southern New Jersey. |

Honestly the DVR is pretty blah...for the added amount your better off getting a TiVO unless things change. -- Forum Posts:4326 |

| reply to Comcablrtl I live in Roger's Park (north side of Chicago just south of Evanston). Can I get the 6200 here? I called Comcast and they sent a repair tech out without a box, thinking that I just didn't like my box. They're coming back Tuesday and put a note that I want the 6200, but will they be able to find one in the warehouse if they try???
TIA!! |

| reply to JeepMatt The blue guides are definitely a nice upgrade. The eye guides should come sometime later this year when the companies responsible get that work completed. The eye guides are very nice - picture in picture, click fast (forget how many weeks out they go). Dual tuner DVR should be available about the same time, but I don't know what Comcast's rollout schedule is for those. The dual tuner with eye guides will be the point where dvr becomes a worthwhile feature. -- ISCABBS - the oldest and largest BBS on the Internet telnet://whip.isca.uiowa.edu Member: American Association of Geographers, American Geophysical Union, American Water Resources Association |
