1 edit | [XP Pro] [SP2] Can't install
When trying to install the drivers to get the video input on my ATI All in wonder to work I keep getting quote: 1607: Unable to install InstallShield Scripting Runtime
Attached are some screen shots of what I might see. I don't think this is an issue with ATI software but a problem with SP2 and InstallShield. I did some google searches about the issue (»www.asksam.com/faq.asp?file=faqs···0Runtime »consumer.installshield.com/kb.asp?id=Q108340) and ran through their suggestions but no dice. I think the issue is related to how some parts of Windows update won't recognise the user is logged in as admin. When I had SP1 they installed just fine. I was having some problems with some of the ATI software so I uninstalled it and am now trying to get the software back on. Anyone got any good ideas on how to get the video input working on my card? -- "Affluence separates people. Poverty knits 'em together. You got some sugar and I don't; I borrow some of yours. | reply to Maxo Thought I'd add this attachment and screen shot to explain my setup a little more. I just noticed that apparently I do have the video tuner installed but my Guide+ doesn't recognise it. |

1 edit | reply to Maxo While I'm aware of an early public release aimed at IT managers, anyone can download it. Its an old build of the sp2 update I'm sorry to say. I suggest you wait till its officially released considering the nature of the beta software, and in the recent builds most, if not all of the little problems with 3rd party drivers/software have been fixed. There's been unofficial speculation on when it will be released as an official update, but I suggest you wait for the official release. For those who are paranoid about things not working, wait till an update, or two comes out after sp2 is released.
If you did download this from the official public source, they gave you information on where to talk about it on a private newsgroup server, and anyone can read/post there. Microsoft monitors those newsgroups, and uses the information towards the project. They don't monitor all these internet boards so if you bring up your problem there maybe somebody might know something. -- My hourly rates: $25 per hour. $35 per hour if you want to watch. $45 per hour if you want to help. $75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed. |

2 edits | You will be forced to uninstall the current beta service pack before you can install the actual update, and that might not leave such good results anyway. Beta releases don't always leave cleanly, I've uninstalled one build, and found new problems when it was restored to sp1 that were not there before.
As I said before in other posts I run a dual boot, sp1, and sp2 beta. Sp2 is not touching my stable partition until I feel its ready, as it stands, I have to re-image my second os due to the new problems that happened when I uninstalled the previous sp2 beta.

Your playing with an old build, the builds that I have available are much more stable. However they are not public release. -- My hourly rates: $25 per hour. $35 per hour if you want to watch. $45 per hour if you want to help. $75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed. |

1 edit | The link already provided is the only sp2 beta release available to the public, I suggest you don't run it on your main computer/operating system, and really suggest you wait till the official release of xp sp2. -- My hourly rates: $25 per hour. $35 per hour if you want to watch. $45 per hour if you want to help. $75 per hour if you tried to fix it, and failed. |

| reply to Maxo I was looking around google for a solution for this problem when I found this thread and I've got to tell you I'm having the problem as well except I don't had SP1 let alone SP2 I just installed XP on a new system and when I tried to install the MMC 9.0 drivers for my TV tuner card listed here (»ati.com/support/drivers/winxp/tv···it=GO%21) I got the same exact errors, so looks like Im stuck with mmc-7-9 until ATI finds a fix for this. |

| I've tried everything listed in this Usenet post »tinyurl.com/3ahx9 which has the same links that you provided and it just doesn't work as I said before I can install everything but MMC 9.0. I'm confident at the moment that it's a coding issue on ATI's end. Im working on an email to send to ATI as I submit, hopefully they can resolve this. |

| reply to auggy said by »support.installshield.com/kb/vie···Q107094: Make sure that the Installer folder in the Windows directory on the machine is not read only. The path to the installer folder is typically C:\Winnt\Installer on Windows NT, 2000, and XP machines and C:\Windows\Installer on Windows 9x and Me machines. Right-click on the Installer folder and select Properties. Make sure that it is not read only. On some machines, the Installer folder may be hidden. Before searching for this folder in the above path, make sure to show hidden files and folders in the Windows Explorer options.

| Welcome to BBR, BodyBumper .
Looks like you tried just about everything.
It may be worth a try, as suggested in this Intuit document, to create a new account with administrative privileges, and try the installation from there. |
