xeoHosting.com = SCAMMERS/CONS

I recently signed up for a reseller account with xeoHosting. The first day went well - the owner was a pushy jerk but the service was set up somewhat quickly. I got my website going for a few days after that but then it magically went down. I emailed the host - no response. I called him (WHOIS info) - he hung up. I tried to IM the support name he gave for AOL Instant Messenger - no dice.

I tried to call one more time and was told that he was going to kill me if I ever contacted him again. Yesterday I found out that my credit card was charged for $900 of "late fees" with xeoHosting. I tried to talk to the guy today to make sure that this was a mistake - and now he claims to be in freakin' MEXICO for the week. He's avoiding me!

Can someone help!?

Anyhoo, you're accusing them of some serious fraud. I'd recommend taking it up with the BBB and your credit card company. Also, I thought the owner was only 15 or 16 years old - what's up with that?

I also saw the PO Box listed as the contact, but that's easily bypassed:
 Administrative Contact:
Goecke, David godavid@comcast.net
P. O. Box 20262
Indianapolis, IN 46220
US
3172553990
Google result for 3172553990:
Chonga Goecke, (317) 255-3990, 5835 Linton Ln, Indianapolis, IN 46220

Good luck with the issue... I've had stuff like that happened before. I hope they go down harder on people who make insane charges and then "skip town".

I called that number a few minutes ago and got an answering machine. I talked to him and he sounded pretty young - and from what I've read on WebHostingTalk, his account was BANNED for abuse! I can't believe this! He sounded like a reasonable and fair guy who ran a decent business. What the hell do I do now? I think I'm going to phone my lawyer tomorrow and have a chat with the BBB!

Ugh I'm SO PISSED!

Yep, hes a member here removed See Profile. I believe he switched off to beta testing See Profile. Also, on WHT- he was banned, but I believe he came back as a premium (paid?) user there, so the crystal ball says. Actually this just in. That account disabled as well. Cute. Hes also had his fair share of shady deals on WHT as well. Go figure.

I'm sure its no coincidence as well that xeohosting's website is down right now at theplanet as well..as well as its nameservers. DNS has gone up into the air as well.

NS1.XEOHOSTING.COM 69.93.195.98
NS2.XEOHOSTING.COM 69.93.198.100

To NS1.XEOHOSTING.COM
9 so-5-0-0.mpr4.sjc2.us.above.net (64.125.30.178) 16.197 ms 13.178 ms 17.031 ms
10 so-2-3-0.cr1.dfw2.us.above.net (64.125.29.50) 58.820 ms 61.110 ms 59.164 ms
11 216.200.88.141.theplanet.com (216.200.88.141) 53.734 ms 54.845 ms 54.478 ms

13 * * *

The second one works, but that doesn't look like its running a nameserver at all with a direct query from dig.

I'll check again in the afternoon and see if it comes back up..I think I smell fish. Do you?

$900 in unauthorized charges? That sounds like credit card fraud, I think you can contact more than just the Better Business Bureau about that.

Definitely call your credit card company, dispute the charges ASAP.

Apparently according to this anyway.

Although it was a while ago and his user name used to be xoehosting or something like that.

Clearly you need to file a report with your credit card company. If you can convince them of fraud, then they will remove that $900 charge.

Is anyone else hosted with xeohosting? If so, do you have any good or bad experiences you would like to mention here?

Absolutely. I think a good project for us would be to do a FAQ entry on what one should do in case you deal with a ripoff host.

Someone will definitely have some 'splainin' to do when (or if?) he comes back from Mexico.

This whole situation brings back my original point - how does a 15 year old child run a web host?

As I recall, IcEr3K See Profile has his website (icer3k.net) hosted with xeo as well.

GO figure though:

ns1.xeohosting.com is still down, and as far as I know ThePlanet, a server would never be down for more than an hour unless it was either on a non-payment status, canceled, or somebody took it down (ie. shutting it down/killing the interface) to do something.

File that chargeback right away. A credit card company will usually give you your chargeback if you complain hard enough. They'll also stick around a $25 chargeback fee at the person who initially charged the account as well.

As for FAQ on scamming? That would be fun..

Also, big greg See Profile- as far as i've seen, hes only gotten comments on signups- nobody has really rated on overall experience. I wouldn't trust those anyway, seeing his reputation on WHT already.

@66.35.x.x

I called my credit card company and explained my story. They said that they'll have to look into it. The woman I spoke with told me that it was a very big deal and that I should contact a lawyer as soon as possible. I'm scheduled to speak with a lawyer tomorrow.

I hope this jerk doesn't manage to keep my money. He really should go to jail for this! He has no business operating a web host!!!

Sorry for your misfortune. I"m working on a financing project that's going to be pure online, similar to ING-direct. It's nice to see what could happen if things aren't worked out correctly.

I find this very exciting. Better than tv.

I really want to see how this turns out.

I don't think you'll need a lawyer to get your credit card money back. Look up David's parents' number and give them a ring. Tell them that their 12/13 year old just ripped you off $900 and that his feeble hobby needs to end. Model airplanes are more suited to him.

Many (if not all??) credit cards have a clause that if you are unsatisfied with a purchase and the seller won't refund the money after attempting to get a refund, that you'll get your money back and the credit card company will pursue the charges (or something similar). Banks can also do the same, within 60 days. A big company with oodlees of cash is more pressing than one person (unless you're Bill Gates).

Should be all there, there was trouble contacting that number anyway..

Edit: I wonder why none of the other people have stepped forward yet..hmm. Might take awhile to get on Google I guess.

You are correct orinoco See Profile about the credit cards. You don't need a lawyer. It's a scam, and a phone call and a hardcopy mailed in form should get you a credit.

Theory: If the family is vacationing in Mexico, they wouldn't be home, and they are most likely off-net until maybe as late as Sunday night.

Couldn't you call the hosting facility and tell them you are a customer of xeohosting, one of their customers, you can't reach him, and his machine may need some attention?

You can try the numbers on this page for ThePlanet's orbit panel: »https://orbit.theplanet.com/

You'll have to hit the right guy to get any information though. *grin*

Yeah, that makes sense, but I'm starting to think that CBigsby wants to go a bit beyond getting his money back.

I can't say that I'd blame him... I'd be pissed as well.
