If money's not an issue (you're off by at least an order of magnitude) -- and you have line of sight with your friends, you need
1) An omnidirectional antenna at your location 2) A high quality AP with external antenna connectors at your location 3) A NAT router at your location. 4) Directional antennas at each of your friends' houses 5) Wireless bridges at each of your friends' houses 6) Mounting hardware, weatherproof boxes, cable, connectors, lightning protection, etc.
If you want to extend it with another WAP, you need to make sure your WAP is capable of WDS (that's "Wireless Distribution System), and you will need a dual-radio repeater and another omni (as well as a directional antenna) at the extension location.
If you really thought you could do it in the ballpark of $300, you're better off dropping the idea.
If not, search this forum; there are people who have pulled stuff like this off.
Note that what you're asking, essentially, is how to set up a wireless ISP. |
