Re: [TIME WARNER] Time Warner Cable Box

If you hook up your SA box in a different area, it will come up saying, unit not authorized, call the local cable company, on all channels. You will have a a 10lb brick.

BTW, why did you start two threads dealing with the same exact issue?

Do you know if you get any of the channels with the Scientific Atlanta (analog) so I can use it to record or play back on these stations?

Sorry, but you can not purchase a Digital Cable Receiver for your own (has been discussed here too many times).

Digital CaTV receivers are regulated by your local CATV provider and they own the boxes, which is in turned leased to their subscribers so that they can regulate what devices are activated on their systems.

I own my DVR Scientific Atlanta 8000, I called Time Warner and they say I can only use there boxes. I am moving to Cape Coral, FL where the Service is Time Warner. Is thier any way of using my own Digital Cable Boxes instead of renting their's? I want to order all services but use box's I can buy not rent.
