i was told by my comcast op manager that the home networking speeds will be available with out their equipment as of the 1st of july for all you folks that dont like their modem router gateway |

| yes it would at least that is what my comcast operations manager told me that it would be the 384/4000 speeds at the hn price because i was having issues with their linksys setup and we finally narrowed it down to the router gateway modem being the issue so he gave me a 3100 and told me he would be able to get the speed back up to hn speeds in a week because it was something new they would be offering starting july 1st |

New Tiers?
From your reliable source.. did they say anything about how high the fastest package would be? Will it compete against Verizon's upcoming 3000/768? Cause the day it was to come out I was planning to drop Comcast like a hot rock. But, if they can get me 768 upload I would stay put. |

I'm with Redking, once 3/768 is available from Verizon, I'm so there. But it's a good move by Comcast to offer the additional tier.

The two tiers are nothing new I'm sorry to say for those thinking something big.
1.Tier one-3000/256 wired or wireless $42.95 plus modem rental.
2.Tier two-4000/384 wired or wireless $52.95 plus modem rental.
In my case i pay $45.95 a month with modem rental,so i could pickup this package for $10.00 at $55.95.
I uses to pay $95.00 for Pro package for the same speeds. |

I just don't understand why they are bothering. I could see a tier one, followed by a higher tier at say 6/768 for $95.99 or something. But the 4/384 isn't much of an increase. Sure it is only ten dollars more so it is worth buying... but in the scheme of things this isn't that special.
PS. I fibbed and told comcast I was switching to SBC Yahoo. Then they gave me internet for $19.99 for six months. So personally I won't be swtiching to 4/384. I would if I was already paying $42.95. But for now, I'll be keeping 3/256 for dirt cheap (for now). |

I'm surprised they are bothering to do a "roll out" since the majority of config files with HN speeds has been done for quite awhile.
But ass backwards as always
