| Getting invalid access updating firmware on 3220-H
Hi
I have a 3220-h and I am trying to update to the latest firmware from 5.4 through telnet using solar winds tftp. When I log in and it starts to install it gives the error invalid access to whatever file path the files happen to be in. I have checked can not find any settings to deny access and I have disabled my firewall. |

You're in luck! There are detailed instructions in a topic from a couple of days ago:
»Cant Upgrade 3220H from v5.4 to 6.3 using telnet??

| reply to ShurSnap make sure your file is in the proper directory. neither the TFTP server nor the router will look around for it, you must put it in the right place. the server should list the files in it's root directory.
also, in solar winds, click on file--configure. first check to make sure your file is in the root directory and shows up in the bottom part of the window. then check the security tab and the advanced security tab. make sure that you allow transmit and recieve and that you allow all ips to have access. if these things aren't right, it will give you the access error. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher..........and since it's in English, thank a soldier. |

| Well, I got it to download the updater then I tried to install the firmware and got not enough memory error so when I reset the router all it does now is the dsl light and the status light blink and I can not telnet into it. I can hyperterm into it with a serial cable but I can not type and I can not get the file to upload. Going to try to get another serial cable and see if I can do anything with it
Thanks |

| reply to ShurSnap you are going to have to connect via a serial cable to fix it.
verify that your settings are correct in hyperterminal. it should be 9600 baud, 8n1, no flow control. if these are wrong, you may see data, but not be able to type back. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher..........and since it's in English, thank a soldier. |

| reply to ShurSnap try using the serial cable to connect, then set the ip of the router to 192.168.1.254 subnet 255.255.255.0. then also connect an ethernet cable and perform the upgrade via the ethernet connection. sometimes when a glitch happens during an upgrade, the unit will not assign itself a LAN ip and must be reset and manually configured. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher..........and since it's in English, thank a soldier. |

1 edit | reply to ShurSnap that means you are logged in as guest. you MUST be logged in as admin to upgrade. the default pw for admin is the serial number on 5.x firmware.
