Well I just got everyone's TV reception on my end of the street fixed
I got a hold of the county cable authority and shortly afterwards, a Comcast superviser contacted me. We set up a time for a lead tech to come to my house the next day. He assured me that the "since it's working fine now there's nothing we can do here sign this" routine would not happen.
I compared notes with my neighbors. They don't have Comcast HSI so I couldn't compare that with them but they told me their TV reception is horrible on hot days as is mine now that summer is here. It was interesting to note that the house on 1 side of me is brand new and their cable is underground (while us old timers' cable is not) and they were having problems as well.
The lead tech came and I told him about my internet problems and let him know what my neighbors said about their TV reception problems. He tested my signals at the house and said they were fine. He climbed up my pole and back down and then hooked up a little TV he had in his van right there at the pole. My luck was in because at the time he was here, my reception had gone to pot. He said that told him the problem was *not* inside my house. (I was pretty sure it wasn't my fault the others also had lousy reception on hot days LOL)Out of all the times I've had Comcast techs here, he was the first one to ever have tested my connection at the pole with a TV. He said something about a bad chip or module.
He was very nice, took the time to actually listen to what I had to say and even though he was extremely busy, he made some calls and I heard him ask that this be escalated. He had another house to go to but he said he'd be back. A little bit later, he did indeed return.
Another truck came and they went down the street to the next pole and when they got done up there, I could see on the little TV in his van that the picture had cleared up VERY nicely. He said they replaced the whole thing and would take the other in for repair.
He came in the house with me and showed me a little ping trick to test out the internet problems I described to him. He let that run while he went next door to help 1 of my neighbors with his cable box. A little later he came back and sat down with me at the PC and said the ping test looked really good and he did some speed tests at different websites and they came back looking pretty good.
After he left I began to use my internet connection. Sadly, everything that they did has not fixed my internet problem. My speeds still drop down to nothing and then come back up. This has been on going since Nov 2003 »Anyone else having trouble in Anne Arundel co. ?
