Hi All:
Thought you all might be interested in this. Yesterday Suzi at SpywareWarrior updated my Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware Products & Web Sites page:
This is a major update. In addition to the main page, there's a companion page as well:
Anti-Spyware Family Resemblances »www.spywarewarrior.com/family_re···nces.htm
Comments, corrections, and suggestions are, as always, most welcome.
Best,

| reply to eburger68 Wow, no kidding that's a major update! At a quick glance it's fantastic! I was checking out the rogue list just last week and the amount of additional information now included is impressive indeed. WOW!
Kudos also for the companion page.
Great work! |

1 edit | reply to eburger68 Hi All:
I was doing a bit more testing tonight, and I ran across one that I just had to share with you:
AdwareSpy »adwarespy.com/
On a spyware-free system it flagged 426 items (16 files, 410 Registry keys). It flagged programs like Adobe Acrobat, AdShield, and Nero as spyware. ( ! ! )
Utterly unbelieveable.
On top of that it's yet another Ad-aware rip-off.
These guys deserve some sort of booby prize.
It's not on the rogue/suspect apps page yet, but rest assured it soon will be. It earned a spot with flying colors.
Best,
Eric L. Howes |

| reply to eburger68 Hi All:
Yes, another one. Since Suzi posted those pages these things seem to be dropping in my lap without much of any effort at all on my part.
Spy Doctor »www.healthycomputerclub.com/Soft···dex.html »www.NoSpyWare.info/ (redirects to above)
This is a clone of SpyKiller 2004. In fact, the name of the scan log produced by this app on my box was: SpyKiller log29-6-04111812.txt.
Its ref database files also confirm that it's part of the same family as SpyKiller 2004:
Compare the screenshot included above with any of the SpyKiller 2004 screenshots on the above page.
And like the other apps in the family, it's a rip-off of Ad-aware 5.x, and it produces plenty of false positives only to demand payment.
I'll be adding it along with AdwareSpy, which falls into family # 3 on the Family Resemblances page:
...in an update to the Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware pages later tonight.
Best,

| reply to eburger68 Hi All:
We've been adding new apps on a regular basis over the past few days, including:
Spyinator (SpyDoctor/SpyKiller 2004 clone) »www.spyinator.com/
AdwareX (SpyAssasin clone) »www.adware.com/
The most interesting find, though, has to be:
ADS Adware Remover »www.adware-remover.net/
In a previous post in this thread I called attention to the outrageous number of false positives produced by AdwareSpy (426, including legitimate programs). Incredibly enough, someone actually decided to license that garbage.
ADS Adware Remover and AdwareSpy are in fact the same app, sharing ref database files, interfaces, and the dubious distinction of lightening victims' wallets at the same time as they wreak havoc on their systems.
Be sure to check out the latest updates to both the main Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware page and the Family Resemblances page.
Best,

| reply to eburger68 Whatever happened with the defamation suit (or threatened suit) that Enigma was going to carry out against Suzi's site, Spyware Warrior?
On a related note, a spokesperson for SpyHunter (paid shill perhaps) posted about this topic on Cexx.org's message boards saying that Suzi was making false accusations. He was directed to read chillingeffects.org. It kind of reminds me of the same tactics that have been used by Evidence Eliminator and its affiliates. -- "Kayura or Badamon, whichever you are, you should know that I will never give up this battle. | This is suzi, aka daphne. I just saw the last reply here. After I requested the guy from Enigma to cite specifics of his complaint about my postings and gave him my attorney's contact info, I have not heard another word.
The person who posted on Cexx.org's forum about me is a Spyhunter affiliate and I got screenshots of the ads on her site, which are posted in the thread. She also owns the site 2-spyware.com, which pushes other rogue products as well. |

| reply to eburger68 Muchas Gracias, Eric! It's amazing how many programs exist out there which purport to be anti-spyware/malware and yet might be affiliated with what they pretend to protect us from (to dangle a participle!) Just yesterday was cruising around on my municipal parks department's public drive and found that someone in IT had put up an executable for StopSign. I immediately mailed the director of IT and told her what I know about StopSign/Eanthology. I hope it gets pulled. Keep up the good work, Eric. We need your help! |

| reply to eburger68 Hi All:
Those interested in this subject might want to check out my latest findings wrt ZeroSpyware:
»spywarewarrior.com/viewtopic.php···42#18442
Previously I had not been able to test ZeroSpyware because the "free scan" application kept crashing. The "free scan" was updated in the last few days, and someone pointed a link to the "lite" version of ZeroSpyware over in a related thread at PC Pitstop:
»pcpitstop.ibforums.com/index.php···257&st=0
The short story here is: there is something seriously amiss with ZeroSpyware. See the thread at Spyware Warrior for the full details.
ZeroSpyware will be staying on the "Rogue/Suspect Anti-Spyware" list.
Best,
