One word of advice - tell your friend DO NOT click the link.
If he had NIS (Norton Internet Security) installed, the Ad-blocking feature would stop it dead in its tracks most likely.
There is an excellent FAQ to help on this as well: »Security »How do I prevent browser hijacks and spyware? -- Security Forum FAQs .. ♥ .. "Raj karega Khalsa!" .. ♥ .. Starfire "5 in 4" |

It's just an ad. I wouldn't want someone to "broke my life". |

I'll just stop there. |

 | reply to moonpuppy We've seen quite a few of these at SFDC. If this is the same, it seems to be covering the desktop/wallpaper and is tricky to get rid of. I hope the following information helps.
Uninstaller:

One way to remove it that seems to be working:
Go to Control Panel -> Display -> Desktop. Click on the Customize Desktop button. Then select Web and uncheck (or delete) the webpage Security. Click OK and it's done. |
