Re: SBC-DSL + router = dropped connections

3 years is getting to the life of the modem.
I would definitely consider replacing it ...

If you are currently at the end of your SBC contract
and start a new contract, you can get another FREE modem
just by asking for it. Unfortunately, you can only get
the modem FREE at contract renewal time. Any other
time, you'll be charged $99 for the modem.

(Or to put that in plain English, SBC will allow you
one FREE modem per yearly contract)

If you are currently in the middle of your contract and
outside of warranty, your best bet might be to go to
someplace like Micro Center, Best Buy, or CompUSA to
pickup a new modem. You can often find a DSL modem
there for less than SBC's $99 price tag and often
better modems too!

Re: SBC-DSL + router = dropped connections

Really dumb question - how do I know when I'm near the end of my contract? I've had SBC DSL for years....and a phone company guy selling me long distance just recently changed my DSL - re-rated it or something. Have I missed an opportunity to upgrade my modem? Do I have to call??? WHINE!
