[Help Me] What throughput can I expect - DWL-G650 Turbo??

I have the DWL-2100AP and a DWL-G650 Rev B4. D-Link drivers were unstable so I loaded the Atheros 3.1.1.48 which I found thanks to this site! These so far are much more stable.

Question is, I have the 2100AP set to SuperG Dynamic Turbo and the G650 is set for SuperG. But I see the actual throughput varying considerably between usually 12 to 48 Mbps, occasionally 72 Mbps.

I tried transferring 537 MB of files from a PC on the wired side to the laptop with the G650. This took 6 min 6 sec. So as I compute this, 537MB/366 sec * 8 = 8.8 Mbps.

This seems very low to me. Am I computing this right? Are my expectations too high? Or do I need updated drivers that really support 108Mbps?
