 [netopia] Netopia 3341-ELK .......NAT Feature?

Is there anyway to determine if the Earthlink distributed Netopia Model 3341-ELK has the NAT (Network Address Translation) feature? If so,is there a way to determine if this feature is "ON"? Neither Netopia nor Earthlink seem to be able to answer these questions. Thanks.

It should be simple really, just go to the Command Prompt and type in ipconfig and see if your IP address is a LAN IP or WAN IP.. Private IP addys (behind NAT) are 192.168.xx.xx, 172.xx.xx.xx or 10.xx.xx.xx. Anything else would tell you that NAT is turned off.

Thanks LLB. Both IP Address & Default gateway Address begin with the numbers 172 and Subnet Mask starts with 255...So I presume I have NAT and it is "ON".One other question....Does NAT provide a type of Firewall by hiding the Internal IP Addresses? Or do I still need a separate Firewall....Thanks again.

NAT is a basic firewall. it protects you from inbound problems, but does nothing to stop OUTbound worms. personally, i use Zone Alarm on each machine, but you may want to get a hardware firewall. it is strictly up to your preference.
