| [cayman] Cayman 3546 I can't remember how to access it
Hi all, Hoping someone could help me out alittle. I have a Cayman 3546 router with 5 static IP adressess, I use the cayman to host my personal web site and email. I have not accessed the router since the web site guy set it up 8 months ago. I was reading in the manual that I just need to type in 192.168.1.254 and then it will ask me for my username and password. It does nothing with that address but say wrong syntax or page cannot be displayed. Does anybody have an idea how I can get back into this.
Thanks

check your default gateway ip on your machine. that should be the router ip. in xp or 2k, goto a cmd prompt and type in "ipconfig /all" without the quotes. hit enter. the default gateway should be the router. in 9x, run winipcfg. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher..........and since it's in English, thank a soldier. |

| reply to mppanj12 you should not have to reboot the router daily. if you do, there may be other problems. once you get to where you can access the GUI, you should post your stats.
if you default gateway is not the router ip, then it is setup in one of the less common ways. see »Cayman Routers »How do I access my Cayman router? for your other options.
when you login via serial telnet, write down the ip of the cayman so you can later access it via the GUI. if the cayman is using a private ip, and not one in the range of your statics, you will need to hardcode a machine to a private ip on the same subnet to access it via GUI or TCP telnet. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher..........and since it's in English, thank a soldier. |

| Dear Dave, I can get into the router through Telnet but would like to get in through the HTTP browser, According to the last info you gave me to read if I can get in through Telnet but not HTTP then the HTTP port has been changed. That article only explained how to change the HTTP port number back to default, I would imagine if mine was changed it was changed for a reason, is there a way through Telnet I can view the HTTP port number so I can then access it through the browser. So, I guess i just need a command to show me the HTTP port number for telnet.??
Thanks

| reply to mppanj12 It was changed because you are using it's default port, 80, to host your personal web site. Try a few different port numbers, such as:
»192.168.1.254:8080 »192.168.1.254:8000

| reply to mppanj12 once you telnet in, follow these steps: 1. type config 2. hit enter 3. type servers 4. hit enter 5. type web-http 6. hit enter 7. type view 8. hit enter
this should list your port the web server is listening on. type change adn hit enter to change it. type save, hit enter, then kepp typing up and hittint enter until you get back to the main menu. type validate, hit enter. if it says config passed, restart the router. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher..........and since it's in English, thank a soldier. |

| reply to snerd not necessarily cause he has a web server. he has a 5 static package and is not using NAT. therefore it was probably changed to stop prying eyes from changing the config settings. -- If you can read this, thank a teacher..........and since it's in English, thank a soldier. |

| Dear Dave, I logged in and got my HTTP port number and typed it into the browser and i still got nothing. Is there anything else to try. And yes it was changed because in order to use the 3546 like hosting you have to open it wide up and the techy guy made some changes to help those issues out. What is next to try.
By the way I called SBC today and they told me " I DUNNO" maybe netopia could help ya out there.....

| reply to mppanj12 you would enter the ip as "h ttp://1.2.3.4:8080", using your cayman's LAN ip and webserver port to access it.
another possibility is that web admin is disabled, not just changed.
telnet into it, and try this:
type config hit enter type ip hit enter type set hit enter until you see :
restrictions (admin-disabled) [ none | admin-disabled ]:
change this to none. save everything and restart the router. this will enable GUI admin from your LAN side only.
if this does not fix it, telnet in and do the following:
type config and hit enter. then type script and hit enter. copy and paste the info into a txt file and post it here. make sure you keep hitting Y to get all the info.
REMEMBER TO BLANK OUT YOUR USERNAME/PASSWORD AND THE 3RD OCTET OF YOUR STATIC IPS AND YOUR CAYMANS IPS BEFORE YOU POST IT! -- If you can read this, thank a teacher..........and since it's in English, thank a soldier. |
