jDynoPremium join:2001-02-20 Washington, DC | Lomography? Anyone ever heard of lomography? It's basically this movement (for lack of a better term) of taking pictures of everyday life with some version of a low-tech camera and usually without looking through the view finder.
A couple sites for reference:
»120seconds.com/features/021025_l···dex.html »www.lomography.com
I'd be interested to hear what others think about this whole thing - in regards to, well, anything really. But I guess to keep it on the digital topic, since it seems an unwritten rule (or maybe it's written, I don't know) that to be a true lomographer (not my term) you can't be using a digital camera. -- smart marketing life unedited |

To be a true Lomographer you don't have to know what day it is. |

| reply to jDyno Thats... interesting... though, with the ammount of pictures I've been taking with my digital camera, Film costs would be ouch with a 'Lomo' I figured, in less than 2 weeks, i've taken over 600 pictures... if this were a 'lomo' that would have been over $300 worth of film/developing costs.
As for being 'random' my mom was driving around town, and I just aimed it out the window, and clicked... Turned out pretty good, surprised to see how good it turned out, not really aiming it specifically, and while moving
I actually listened to all the little voice clips on the 120seconds.com site, Was scary, a bunch of people say 'Low-tech' I like to do everything 'low-tech' now.. I could just imagine all these people...
Them with the 'lomo's and us BBR people withour Digital Cameras and Laptops. |

An offshoot of this movement is called "Samography." This is where you take random, impromptu photos using only Walmart store-brand disposable cameras and then developing them with cheapest photo finishing service you can find.

My broken 2 year old Argus DC3200 digital will actually make a good canidate for this LOL. I had broke the main lens by accident in the attempt to make the camera IR capable. So, I had to make a homebrew 'replacement'. Result was the worst optics I have ever seen ( ), absolutely perfect for lomography, except that its IR .
No digitals huh? Obviously they have never seen my custom Argus then . |
