For Sale Forum - Posting Rules

This forum is for the buy/sell/trade of home computer and broadband equipment and electronics. Only personal sales are allowed here. As with all forums on this site, these overarching rules apply: Site Posting Rules. Here are the forum specific rules, and that's the way it is until posted differently.

Acceptable items include, but are not necessarily limited to, the following:

Broadband equipment: DSL, telco and cable modems, routers, switches, hubs, satellite components, and any related hardware for such devices.

Computers and related equipment: complete PC systems and/or individual components such as monitors, motherboards, video and sound cards, mice and keyboards, switches, PDAs, HDDs, FDDs, CD and DVD drives, printers, USB components.

Software: sales of software is permitted, and used software is also allowed. However, you must provide the original source, whether CDs or other media, and the buyer must be able to register and authenticate (if applicable) it legally. No NFR (Not for Resale) software sales allowed. OEM software sales will not be permitted in this forum unless it is sold with computer system on which it was originally installed. Software Key sales are NOT allowed!

Game devices and games: XBox, Nintendo GameCube, Playstation, SegaDreamcast and games and accessories for those systems.

Other electronics: Items contained in the Allowed Items List are subject to change with out notice, so check the list often.

Items not specifically mentioned in the categories above are subject to moderator discretion.
If in doubt, contact a forum moderator prior to posting.

•Please note that buying, selling and trading of Game Accounts are NOT allowed in this forum. Also note that the sale or trade of Gift Certificates, Coupons, Cards, Codes and Keys of any kind are likewise NOT allowed here. Too many problems with misrepresentation and fraud.

•The sale of Web domains, Web hosting services or Web design services are Not permitted.

•The sale of Cars and car parts (excluding radios, GPS and other general car electronics) are Not permitted.

•The sale of Furniture of any kind is Not permitted.

This is Not a complete list of items Not allowed, so anything Not listed above, is subject to moderator discretion.
Again, if in doubt, contact a forum moderator prior to posting.

•There are three categories of acceptable topics: "For Sale", "Wanted to buy" and "Wanted to trade". You are permitted to have one active topic per category, but you must keep all items/requests in the related topic.

If you do, by chance, have multiple threads going, under no circumstances should your threads, of any type, be bumped within 24 hours of each other! Important!! If you would like to remove or mark as sold the items that are gone, just IM a Mod and we will edit your listing for you!

•By popular demand, you MUST list your asking price on items for sale. It saves time and may make your sale faster. We don't do auctions here.

•Posts by unregistered and anonymous users will be deleted. If you can't be honest enough to register legitimately, who would want to buy from you?

•Remember, this forum is for posting WTT, WTB and FS transactions. If you don't want to trade, buy or sell then there are other more appropriate places to discuss and gather information such as General Questions or Hardware Reviews.

•Price check posts are *not* permitted here (i.e. "how much can I get for a ...".)

Once you have posted your item/s, do not delete the item/s, or remove the post once your item/s have been sold.

•The 24-Hour "BUMP RULE" applies for what we call a "plain bump". This is a bump, done by the thread originator, used when there is no other reason to post other than a bump. This may only be done after 24 full hours of inactivity, down to the minute!

Look at the time/date on the last post in the thread. That was the time/date that post was made, in your time zone. Compare that time/date with the actual date/time where you are. Unless you are in the Eastern Time Zone, the time and date at the bottom left of the browser is not helpful as that is the server time in the Eastern Time Zone. Make sure your clock is correct and use that to determine when the thread has been inactive for 24 hours.

•Bumps by those other than the original poster are not permitted.

•You can and should edit your own post instead of bumping. So, do not post and then four hours later post again saying "Oh and by the way..." That is not allowed. If the edit function is available, you may use it for updates and should do so rather than to bump the topic early.

•Exceptions to the bump rule are limited to:

    • --- Advising of the pending buy/sale/trade of item(s).

    • --- Answering specific questions asked by others within the thread (not from IMs). Keep responses to IMs in IMs and replies to e-mail in e-mail.

An example, Icarus posts he has a CPU for sale, and a motherboard, $50 for the CPU and $75 for the mobo. Three hours later, "Buyer A" says he will take the CPU. One hour later, Icarus posts "CPU is pending/sold". This is OK. Now, the 24-hour rule says Icarus needs to wait 24 hours from the LAST POST in the thread to do a simple bump. So, he decides to drop the price on the mobo to $60, but it has been 14 hours since his last post. All he can do is edit his post. No "price change" bumps are allowed.

Failure to follow these bump rules may be cause for thread removal without warning. Let's try to make this place run smoothly and with as little mod intervention as possible. We have a good thing going here, good sellers and buyers, and no fees!!

Remember ...

Plain bumps must wait for 24 full hours of inactivity, down to the minute!

• If you are not making an offer or asking a question of the buyer/seller then please don't post! Every post bumps the thread to the front page. This is unfair to other members who also deserve their turns on front page of the forum. Needless posts in this forum are a discourtesy to other members. Please keep that in mind before posting. If you are not involved in the transaction, please do not post. Posts deemed not following the spirit and letter of this rule will be removed at the discretion of the moderator.

•You may not run parallel sales on BBR and/or other sites. Any links to off-site sales such as eBay, Amazon, or any other site will not be allowed. In other words, if you appear to have it for sale somewhere else, don't sell it here. Additionally, this forum is not to be used to advertise sales elsewhere, but strictly for buy/sell/trade among our BBR community members.

•Any post deemed to be flaming or trolling will be nuked. That includes public lowball offers. If you don't like the asking price, then don't bid. It is *not* useful information to post that you can get it cheaper at "Joe's Fly-By-Night emporium." Also, do not post links or graphics with prices in [FS] threads, unless you're the thread originator. If there is a link or graphic you think would be helpful for the sale, please send it to the thread originator, so they can post it at their discretion.

•Please contact a thread originator privately to discuss any issues which, posted publicly, might detract from a member's thread. For example, please do not post complaints about a seller's asking price. It is the potential buyer's choice whether to pay the price, negotiate, or go elsewhere, no need to trash the thread. If you believe there is some issue for which the membership needs warning, please use the HeyMod function on the post in question to explain the situation to the forum moderators.

Those are the rules, love 'em or leave us alone.

Failure to follow these rules or multiple BAD/UGLY reviews may lead to being banned from the For Sale/Wanted Forum.

Can you put this up in the header area? I think this is great, and should be kept around for all to see who sell things here... along with the words "BUYER BEWARE" and also "ART OF A GOOD DEAL!"
