 | Got a new modem, getting nasty lag spikes now... Okay, since thursday, Ive been having issues where my connection would hang for about 20 seconds, then my modem would reset, go through a startup phase, then it'd be back to normal, I was on an RCA modem then, today, I just got a new SurfBoard modem from comcast, and now whenever Im playing games, I get lag spikes that last anywhere from 2-10 seconds, and there is no data being sent, its just dead locked in game like I turned my modem off..any ideas? |

Re: Got a new modem, getting nasty lag spikes now... Your signals are fine.I don't know what could be causing your problem. But i can tell you i have had two disconnects and real slow downs since last Friday night.Gaming lags and the modem shuts down.Powercycle did no good.I had to call the local number on your bill. And both time there were outages in Auburn,Federal Way.Fife and Tacoma. So they are working on the network. |

Re: Got a new modem, getting nasty lag spikes now. The same thing has been happening to me all last week only it was just at night. when the sun was up it was just fine and when the sun went down it started doing it again. Mine was so bad that I could not even get on line at night. I called some old buddies at Comcast and they told me it was probably an area wide thing on my node and that it looked like they got it fixed.
So far all seems well and with my new speed upgrade my modem is really flying. 4300/384 By the way I'm in Nashville Tn.

Your modem signals are good.I don't know what your problem could be. |
 | reply to jeri534 You need a new modem. All the Motorola's and Toshiba modems in the KV nodes (which is where you are) are having horrible packet loss. If you just replace the modem you will be fine. It has been going on for a while ever since a plant upgrade was done. |
 | If this is true it could happen to me next.Right now I'm still on QAM 64 with the Moto SB5120,but it looks like they are going to upgrade the whole State to QAM 256.

 | reply to jeri534 You are exactly right Nickell. Don't know why it's happening but it is. Modem Firmware?? SNR values changing??? It will happen when it does switch back to RCA till they get it cleaned up. |
 | Merlin...I was just doing some reading on the QAM,and the best that i could make of it is it has something to do with the SNR.But most of it was over my head.Which doesn't take to much.:)

 | reply to jeri534 Give yourself some credit I am seen some of your posts they are very helpful. That is what the Headend is trying to figure out. The line needs to be a lot "cleaner" for things to work right. Thus SNR is very important. |
